Is it faster, well possibly yes since it is using the chromium engine but other than that the older version was better in every way.
And after the update there is no way to revert back to the original version.
It's sorted out My Youtube problems, it was getting to the point where I couldn't use YT because of the frustration with the endless lagging, now it's faster than MM at a buffet.

Even if you go back to a previous date, like you would if someone froze up your computer?

Edge is the worst big-name browser on the market today. I work in tech support, so I would know. I've seen many problems solved by just having the customer change to a real browser. There are plenty of good ones, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Vivialdi, or Safari (if you're on a Mac). That's not even the complete list of good ones. There are some good, lesser known ones as well.

With browsers being free of charge, there's no reason on this Earth to use the garbage that is Edge. Just retire it and use something better (meaning almost anything else).

Ya i do keep it disabled for w/e reasons. Strange i know.
I didn't even know disabling it was an option. I figured you use it if you need to use it, and if you don't, you never even see it. The couple of times I've used it, it took me about half an hour to find it! Lol. I don't even remember how I did it, TBH.

As for browsers that I think are good, my favorites are Opera and Vivaldi, though Chrome is also quite good. Firefox is decent, but has had some problems with memory leaks over the years. All of these completely kick Edge's butt.

You're not wrong. I'm just forced to use it sometimes because I make Xbox games and they purposely make things not work with other browsers. The other first parties do the same thing. You have to use google for most things on the Nintendo Switch for example. Funny story is that at one point, I couldn't use Edge when we were trying to submit a game. I contacted Microsoft and they asked me to use google to submit. The guy I was dealing with at Microsoft was freakin embarrassed.

OMG, don't even get me started on dirty tricks that software companies use. IMO it's unethical to deliberately make a competing product incompatible. I want to see companies compete based on merit, not dirty tricks. The one and only reason I have Edge on this PC at all is for helping customers who still have Edge.

One of these days I may make a long post about how lousy so much commercial software is today. On my home PC, I'm nearly hat 100 percent GNU freeware for everything, including my operating system in Kubuntu Linux. For any job I'm hired at, I make it a point to put in my contract that I'm allowed to put LibreOffice on my PC, as well as some other OpenSource apps like FreeFileSync and CherryTree. They're safe applications that pose no threat to the computer systems, and there's also no licensing issue since it's legal to put these on any computers you want to. I've gotten used to using these things, and I don't miss being pestered to upgrade (and for more money) from the companies.

I'd be interested in reading that long post based on your background.

I may make that at some point. I learned some programming so I could do the "do it yourself" thing and have apps that I want, not some annoying thing some company is shoving down my throat. I don't have time to do that post now, but I will say one thing. I will NEVER pay for a subscription-based software program. All of a sudden Adobe and Microsoft want regular monthly fees. Previously, you could just buy a program and use it how ever long you wanted to, and you didn't need to upgrade to the next version if what you had already worked. No way are they roping me into that, especially since there's such good free software nowadays. LibreOffice meets all my writing and spreadsheet needs, and I don't miss MS Office. GIMP meets my image editing needs.

I did a bunch of customization to LibreOffice Writer to make it easier for me to write in French and German, my two languages I speak besides English. With those I need a little more help with grammar since they're not my native tongue.

I was happy to dump photoshop for Gimp. I'm going to look into LibreOffice because I'm not familiar.
