I was happy to dump photoshop for Gimp. I'm going to look into LibreOffice because I'm not familiar.

I was a little concerned when I switched to LO that I would find it lacking, but that has not been the case. If I dug through MS Word's vast features, I might be able to find something in there that I would use that LO doesn't have, but I would have to dig deep. LibreOffice has fit the bill nicely. My previous boss required a weekly spreadsheet of some info I collect during the week. I did it in LibreOffice Calc and saved it as an Excel file for him. I wondered if I would ever have any compatibility issue, but I never have. On my home PC, I also added an office suite made in Germany named SoftMaker Office. It cost me $25, and I bought it because it had a few German language features that neither LibreOffice nor MS Office had. I've used it on occasion, but not that often. It's also supposed to have better MS Office compatibility than LibreOffice, but so far LO has never disappointed.

I installed Windows 10 on one of my computers recently - I am a Windows 7 holdout - and was pleasantly surprised at how improved Edge is compared to what it used to be. But I also understand that Microsoft is always trying to hook you into something when they give you something. I noticed now that every time I reboot my Windows 10 systems, it restarts with Edge with Bing and MSN on the opened tab. Bing sucks and I don't use it. But this is what MS likes to do to their users. Windows 10 was Microsoft beginning the process of making you use their software they way they want you to use it. They are slowly locking it down so you have less control over it because Microsoft knows best what you want and need!

The new Edge is okay. I have used it and I don't really see much difference from Chrome. It seems lighter than chrome, memory-wise. I have had chrome eat all of my available memory on some web pages for some reason and there is no way to clear it other than shut it down and restart it. I wish they had an option to release memory.

Windows 10 is awful mainly because of its forced automatic updates. In the old versions of the Windows operating system, the update was optional. That is, you can decide if you automatically update your system or don't want an update.

Completely agree. Some updates cause problems and I like to know what I am installing with an ability to not installed specific updates if I think they will harm my system. Windows 7 has that. Windows 10 does not. But I downloaded an app that automatically disables all the Windows Update services. At least not I can stop updates and only apply them when I am ready. This is one of the more obvious problems with Windows 10 but they are also using it to push Windows Live, Edge, Bing and MSN. In the 1990s the DOJ sued Microsoft for this kind of nonsense.

When I attempted to go to a Corpus Christi News site's live feed through my TV's Web OS browser, I got this pop-up:

"Your browser is not fully supported for full features. Please upgrade to a modern browser such as Microsoft Edge."

Upgrades for a browser like the one included on my LG TV are controlled by them, and not me.

Just for that reason, as a backup, I bought a Chromebook 3 laptop. I have it attached to the TV by HDMI cable. The lid is closed, and I never have to open it.
I use a remote keyboard and mouse to run the Chromebook which streams from my router.
