The Next Sons Of Anarchy Show Is Happening Sooner Than We Thought
BY NICK VENABLE

Earlier today, the world got the terrible news that Kurt Sutter’s latest series The ******* Executioner will not return for Season 2 in 2016, although we’re happy Season 1 was allowed to come to a close before the decision was made. Still, there’s a huge silver lining to be found here, as it's exit means that Sutter can push his focus back to the Sons of Anarchy universe, and it looks like the planned Mayans-based spinoff will be happening sooner rather than later. Pardon me while I make revving sounds with my mouth.

It was Sutter himself who recognized The ******* Executioner’s ratings problem and played his own part in announcing the cancelation. In doing so, he explained the next step in his career to Deadline.

"The network is very hot on the Mayans project, and I won’t run that show. For me, this is about finding the right writer and the next thing I will be doing is sitting down and interviewing to find a Latino writer, someone who understands the world and culture. I don’t want to just throw some white guy at it."

Gotta love that approach, especially in today’s culture where diversity is still something that TV has yet to fully embrace. Having a Latino creator running a show about a group of Latino characters will certainly stand out. Granted, I’d be down with Sutter taking any role he wanted in the show, but being the guiding spirit as executive producer is more than enough.

I'll be looking forward to this spin off.

I was not surprised in the least that he, and the network I'm sure, decided to cancel ******* Executioner after 1 season. I stopped watching after 3 episodes. It was just plain boring.

I suppose after writing on The Shield and SOA that Sutter had to do something that wasn't just flat out amazing. You can't be amazing all the time I'm sure.

I just hope they don't whisper the entire episode almost EVERY episode like SOA. That **** was annoying as hell.

Loved SOA. I laughed at my wife for being so in to it. I'm not into bikes, the acting wasn't great, and the story line was often predictable. That said I watched the first season on Netflix and became a full on addict. I binged every season over about a 4 week period and suffered from withdraws when it was over. Looking forward to the spin off.

Well that sucks no 2nd season of the executioner. I just started watching and getting Into that!

Thank God.

I watched the first 3 episodes and completely lost interest. After that I didn't see much more than here and there stuff on it because I simply couldn't get into it at all.

It was awfully boring.

As great as Sutter was writing for The Shield and SOA he was equally as bad with what he was writing for BE. It was just....yuck. Boring story, boring characters, and things just always just seemed like they were throwing things in, for the sake of throwing them in.

I will not miss this show, in the least.

Had to do something different. The Shield and SOA are the exact same show.

I would like for SOA to continue with T.O. branching off from SAMCRO to another city creating another chapter in SOA.

I could see why they didn't go that route since it might be compared to Empire or Power.

I'm pumped. I loved SOA. I hope there's a run in or episode that brings in SAMCRO for just a little bit. You know, pay some homage to the original MC that we all came to know and love.

I was kind of wondering about this. I get that it's a spin off that will focus on the Mayans but will it pick up with the after math of jax committing suicide? In other words will the spinoff have samcro and the Mayans Just swap places where samcro will just appear periodically like the Mayans did?

I'll take it.
