The NFC East has been two tiers: Giants-Eagles over Cowboys-Commanders.

Like it or not, the NFC East has clearly existed in two tiers of competition over the past decade - Giants and Eagles over the Cowboys and Commanders. Here are the depressing facts:



Since the 2000 season.........


...........The Giants and Eagles have won 20 playoff games combined. The Cowboys and Commanders have won only 2 playoff games combined.


...........The Giants and Eagles have appeared in 34 playoff games. The Cowboys and Commanders have appeared in only 8.



...........The Giants and Eagles have won 10 division titles combined. The Cowboys have won only two and the Commanders have won none.


...........The Giants and Eagles have appeared in 8 conference title games combined. The Cowboys and Commanders have not appeared in any. (The Commanders, in fact, last appeared in an NFC title game in the 1991 season.)


...........The Giants and Eagles have appeared in 4 Super Bowls and won two; the Cowboys and Commanders have had no Super Bowl appearances.


..........The Giants have been 32-18 against the Commanders and Cowboys, and the Eagles have been 32-17 against the Commanders and Cowboys. (Together, the Giants and Eagles are a combined 64-35 against the Cowboys and Commanders.)




Like it or not, the Cowboys and Commanders are really quite similar.

Actually, the head-to-head statistics are still strikingly similar.



Since 2000......

......The Giants have been 16-10 against the Cowboys and 16-8 against the Commanders.


......The Eagles have been 16-9 against the Cowboys and 16-8 against the Commanders.



The Commanders have not dragged down the figures much at all.

Just because our situation has been a 2nd-tier affair for the past decade doesn't mean it's something that can't be overcome. This team has the wherewithal to accomplish that with good health cooperating. We have a decent chance to go deep into the playoffs this year if all goes well. Next year, we should have our OL woes significantly better under control with a good draft and free agency acquisitions. By this time next year, we should be in the driver's seat. With a little luck, we may not even have to wait that long. We're quite good already and are getting better all the time. What's with the gloom and doom?

or as Giants 2 Super Bowls, everyone else 0.

btw, it is 2012 so since 2000 isn't a decade.

We all are very aware that it has been bad lately, .. a better question would be why would you want to drag all of that up?

I think you can cherry pick whatever time-frame you want and come up with similar numbers.

The NFL is cyclical.

For the most part, nobody dominates forever, and nobody stinks forever.

Teams rise and fall.

And when it comes to the Eagles, the bottom line is the bottom line.
