whether it be the bottom feeders (rams, bucs, skins)

or the contenders (cowboys, bears, niners)

it's looking like the shift in power is moving to the NFC for the next few years.

On the flipside, it's amazing how quickly the AFC is deteriorating over the past few years.

The qb position is much deeper in the NFC The east will have 4 good qbs. Same in the south and 3 in the north. The west has Bradford and smith and may add more. In the afc rivers led the league in interceptions and was still a slam dunk as the 3 rd pro bowler.

NFC has won 4 of last 5 SBs
But that's because they have a lot of ultra competitive teams in the top tier. Not because the bottom feeders sign big name free agents to expensive contracts, which consistently happens every year.

teams are not just signing big free agents, they are addressing important weaknesses in their franchises. bucs got rid of their amateur head coach, rams have a better head coach and a ton of picks, and the skins finally solidified their achilles heal (yes I believe RG3 will be good).

Cowboys haven't really done much to get better yet. Well I guess getting rid of Newman and David B might help.

It's all cyclic.

The early-mid 90s were about NFC dominance. The Broncos took the late 90s and the AFC had taken a good portion of the 2000s.

That's just the nature of the business.

Bottom feed and collect enough higher draft picks and then compete.

Detroit is a prime example. Pretty good but they took a long while to get there.

Saints were pretty smelly before getting Brees and turning things around.

With how close the Superbowls are any more I don't think looking at the Superbowl winner is really indicative of the whole story.

I will say that the NFC is getting more stability at the top. The top NFC teams seemed to be rotating frequently for a few years. Almost every year the top NFC teams were switching.

The AFC had it's annual top dogs and a few slots for new teams to jump in.
