This is getting out of hand. If the NFL wants to expand outside of the US, why are Canada and Mexico not looked at as viable options first? I don't get the fascination with shoving "American" football down the throats of those living in the Eastern Hemisphere. NFL Europe burned out for a reason.

Sounds like a terrible idea. I have many Chinese friends and practically none of them know the basic rules or can even name a single team.

It is pretty unbelievable how the NFL can take a money factory like the NFL and basically continue to just try and screw it up every single year. What's really amazing is that it continues to grow and make money. Maybe it's us who are the idiots but honestly, nobody is going to convince me of that. These guys are Buffoons.

I think playing in Toronto (Bills) was the testing grounds for Canada. Didn't work out that well IIRC.

Mexico? Maybe, but that place isn't doing so hot right now.

I don't care to see games played overseas.

The NFL has to make inroads in China. They're way, way behind the NBA in that regard. It's a complicated sport, so it takes time to get it introduced. There are more players on a team, they wear helmets that obscure their faces, and it's not an inexpensive game for kids to just pick up and start playing at a high level, so it's behind the curve with basketball and soccer in those regards. They've got the money, they need to do the groundwork to build popularity in Asia.

They aren't shoving football down the throats of people in Europe. There is a huge knowledgeable fan base which is growing every year. An ever increasing % of NFL revenue is coming from Europe. You know the saying - whoever pays the piper calls the tune.

NFL Europe failed because it was a third rate product. German fans arent stupid. The GFL was better from a fans perspective. Note AFVD (GFL owners) are the only people to defeat the NFL in a head to head battle. What US fans might not know is that 5 of the 6 NFLE teams were very obviously targeted at GFL teams e.g. Hamburg SeaDevils (NFLE) and Hamburg Blue Devils GFL.

Its growth of revenue for the sake of growth. The value of the individual franchises are valued partly on the value of the network contracts and such. Its like NASCAR did in the 90's...and now its worth a shell of it former self.

Most of the current owners are hyper rich guys who love making more money more so than any real affinity for the game of football.

"It will never happen to us" says 32 owners in the NFL . . . . . . . . . .

Watchin NASCAR now is horrible. It has no life or zest. Its living off of its past as the only thing keeping it going.

I don't see how this matters to fans at all.

Jerry would never agree to let one of our home games be played overseas and two years ago, it seems the fans really enjoyed playing in Europe against the Jags. It is something different.

Maybe I am alone but I loved waking up to football last season. I am all for waking up to a 9AM overseas game.
