I think there is too much individual background stories. Some of them are almost as long as home with the wind. Just stick to the game of football and whether they will excel or suck and where they should have been drafted etc.

I prefer the old 2-day draft with the creme de la creme picked the first several rounds followed by the detritus of the lower rounds on Day 2.

The 3 day stunt is obvious in its greed by the NFL. As SB Nation says it so well.
So why did the NFL change to a three-day format? Well, for the same reason the NFL does anything these days — TV money. (As if the 3rd-day ratings are so good.)

Are you chaps OK with 3 days?
Mods, help an old altah boy with a poll.

Do you prefer 2 days or 3 days?
Finally agree with you. I would BBQ Saturday, invite friends and clients (will still do), and relax with the left overs Sunday with the family watching until the last pick.

2 days is it. All you have now is commentators talking gibberish about nothing for 2 days (Thursday and Friday) and the draft being the draft for one day on Saturday.

I don't mind this new format. I just wish they'd get to the point a little quicker. I don't need some random person coming out with some backstory telling us who the pick was. Here is your 10 minutes. Pick is in. Announce pick. Next.

When I was in my 20s though, I definitely remember sitting at the bar ALL day watching the draft with the boys. It was fun, but being young, I could get away with it easier. Today, in my older age, it'd be tough hanging out all day trying to maintain the brews and sitting in uncomfortable chairs. I had a tough enough time sitting in the god awful BWW wood chairs for the first round tonight. lol

I think it works well. Day 1 is so long already. 3 days gives teams several chances to reset, make some calls about trades after each major day then reset their strategy a little bit.

Day 3 is what makes day 1 and 2 such rating bonanza. It's not about day 3, it's about doing the first two rounds on separate nights.

How about the old days when it wasn't on tv and you had to read who the Cowboys picked when your Dallas Cowboys Weekly arrived in the mail

I also think they need to announce the picks immediately after the time is up. They hold off announcing picks after commercial breaks, which are intentionally placed where picks are in, and it is maddening for fans. We should hear each pick at 10 minute intervals no exceptions. They have plenty of time in between picks to run off their commercials. But we have to remember, the draft is not about the fans no matter how much the NFL pretends it is. Those fans in the audience and live shots are all to make you feel like it is about you. But in reality, the draft is all about promoting the NFL and making the NFL lots of money.
