I was just going to post that. I got an email from a current player asking me to pass the word. This is not some gimmick.

Sorry if I am skeptical but anyone with a handful of braincells could probably arrive at the same conclusion that this "petition" will.

This is about the NFLPA rallying the fans behind their demands.

Why not just get it done and we can all be happy.

This just shows how desperate the players are. They're folding. Their gameplan was threaten the owners with that decertification of the NFLPA. Checkmate, owners called their bluff and now they have nothing.

I dunno if an online petition is started it should be by fans not the NFLPA, they might contort this as we support players only, I want to be on neither's side.

They are just continuing the strategy I pointed out recently in trying to get the fans siding with them only to use the fans as leverage against the owners.

Trust me, the players care nothing about the fans .. it's all about the money.

Same goes for the owners, they will start their "gets the fans behind us" campaign most likely after the draft.

They would do better to spend more time across a table discussing the true merits of their demands rather than trying to win through outside factors.

Yep. This is just a simple PR campaign by the players.

I don't think the owners care what the fans think anyway. If they think they can and will improve future profits with a lockout, they're going to do it.

I just want to see a deal worked out by both sides that ensure long term peace between the 2 sides. The current contract between the 2 will be over in March and they need to be able to sit down and hammer out a deal for the good of all.

And I totally agree with the idea of rallying the fans.

The NFLPA likely won't even use the results from their petition in an actual meeting.

What they will do though, is disperse these numbers to all the media outlets. ESPN will have it on about a dozen different shows throughout the day.

If I thought this petition had any chance of helping, I'd be signing it about a thousand times. Seriously though, this has no weight. If they even mentioned it to the owners, the owners would likely laugh and ask if this is what they have been working on.

If the NLFPA really wanted get the fan opinion, they would have started this petition a long time ago to really get some numbers rolling in. Having it now does nothing more than get the idea of "no football" fresh in peoples minds as we go into the Superbowl.

I'm calling 100% bogus.

And again, I'm not trying to sway someone's opinion. Just calling it like I see it.
