The Nonsense of Jerry Jones

I'm sorry... pro Garrett - anti Garrett, doesn't matter to me, but I just want to go on record (yet again - its therapeutic) that the real problem with this team is the clown GM we have.

Even now, the way this week has gone, is just ridiculous. If you are going to make a change, go make it already. If you aren't then give your team the best chance to succeed by not throwing a temper tantrum that will have no practical effect.

Stop with this in the middle, in-between, "gotta talk to my sources" garbage.

Do I like Garrett, yea. Do I really give a flip who coaches this team if we would be successful? Nope.

What I'm absolutely SICK of, however, is this proud franchise becoming a laughing stock joke while it is held captive by a certified narcissist who wants the whole world to know JERRY'S MAD.... WHOOOOOAAAA

There will be those who dutifully inform me that I don't have to watch/buy tickets/ keep up with the team/ etc etc etc.

Trouble is (and Jerry knows it) anyone who has grown up on the Cowboys and has followed the team for any time and with any loyalty will stick around.

So we're stuck.

Why talk about? It makes me feel better. There.

Great post. I feel the same way myself and there is nothing I can do about it. Just have to hang in there and hope for the best, like the day Jerry is no longer in controll of this team.

Honestly, I know you are probably right. But I cannot wait for the day that either Stephen is in control or the franchise changes hands. And what sets me off is here we are again. There is nothing but constant drama surrounding this team. And the ring leader is the guy who should be the man of reason.

Reality is that Jerry is the owner and GM of this team. Unless your willing root for another team, there's a certain level of acceptance involved that's less than perfect obviously...

The notion of bringing in consultants or external football experts at this point should be applauded because IMO it signals that Jerry just might understand that he may need some help even while he maintains the GM title.

I'm sick of losing and I think Jerry is too.

That's fair, and you may be right. But maybe not. I was living in Chicago in 2005. At the time, the Blackhawks were a joke, often critcized as being the worst franchise in the four major sports. The owner at the time was a man named Bill Wirtz. He passed away in 2007, and his son Rocky took over. Started making changes immediately. Completely changed the culture of the team. Hired a new President, made some much needed marketing changes, became a lot more fan friendly, and oh, went out and picked up or drafted some really good players, too. Three years later, they won the cup.

Now, it wasn't all just him. They hired a new GM in 2004, who made some good moves. But Rocky is largely seen as the man oversaw a very rapid change from an awful franchise to a championship one.

I agree completely with the OP. I'm trying to be optimistic about it, though. It's not that we can't win with JJ. It's that we need a very specific kind of coach. Hopefully, that's Garrett.

It actually strikes me that he thinks he's got the whole GM thing down and just needs a few tweaks via conversations with folks who have spent their entire lives honing their craft and he'll be up to speed in no time.

If I was in a position to give him advice and wasn't a Cowboy fan, the last thing I'd do is tell him anything I thought would help his team win I can't see why in the world Joe Gibbs or any other coach would dole out free advice of any substance to this goofball.

Me thinks all this consultant nonsense is to appease the masses. the real solution would be for him to step down as GM and hand over the reins to a real football guy. I know he thinks he's a football guy and he very well may be by now, just not a very good one.

Yeah - it won't change anytime soon, but it is certainly frustrating.

Whatever coach succeeds here....if they ever do....deserves an incredible amount of credit since they were able to overcome Jerry.

Ding ding ding! I think the angst with Jerry among many is this silly notion that he is actually the GM.

If I believed that, I'd have blown my head off long ago.

You guys need to understand his true role with franchise is team president. You'll sleep better.

He publicly neutered Garrett this week. If he brings in a consultant or an OC, Garrett's pretty much done in the eyes of the players. I just think it's ironic that he wouldn't bring in a consultant (Reeves) when Wade requested but he might bring one in now when JG doesn't want it. A dollar short and a day late and it will be the final straw to once again undermine his HC. IMO, he just might as well get rid of Garrett if that's the case.
