From TheRanchLet me preface this by saying it's a rumor. I have no inside source with the Dallas Cowboys, I'm not saying this is 100 proof nor did I invent this. It's what I've been hearing in NY about BP. Seeing as how Parcells is STILL a big deal in NY, There's a lot of talk about what's going to happen with him. This is pretty much the big talk around here from the mediots:

-Bill Parcells honestly feels like at this point, He may be better off served as a general manager than a head coach. He gets towards december and has nothing left and it shows on his face. He knows he can still coach but has his minds on being a GM or VP of talent ops somewhere else.

The problem is he doesn't want to leave The Cowboys in a big mess----and JJ doesn't see a coach suitable to replace Bill right now. JJ wants Bill to stay one year, take one last shot in the Superbowl and then in 08, He plans to push heavily for either Jeff Fisher,Charlie Weiss or Greg Schiano. Bill knows this and that's why his decision will take some time. He's also eyeing the Giants situation critically, as he might take a shot there at some point.

Right now the decision comes down to whether or not Bill will get GM status in 08. If JJ has a future in the cowboys organization for Bill, He'll be a lame duck for a year. If not he'll resign.

Just what I'm hearing here in NY. Take it for what it's worth...which is practically a who knows deal

*if* parcells knows this, i'm slowly regaining some trust in him again also. i'll agree as a GM he's pretty bad to the bone. he's put some talent on the field but that's where it's ending.

i'm just not sold that he's doing us a favor if he comes back for 1 more year as a coach.

i don't think we can trade draft picks for coaches anymore, but if for grins lets say, jones decided he did want fisher, would it even be possible to negotiate with tenn. to get him? i would think a huge chunk of $ would help.

I wouldn't mid seeing Bill as the GM in Dallas but no way does Jerry give up control except to Stephen.

We'd have ourselves a SB with Fisher here and BP as GM.
BP is a great talent evaluator and has increased our roster talent tenfold...but he's something close to .500 in his three seasons here and has gotten slaughtered by younger coaches with more creative gameplans and less talent. I really believe he has lost his touch as far as running the sidelines and his philosophies aren't working in today's game. But would love see him as GM and Ireland still running our scouting.
Fisher would get us one or two SBs.
Heck, I'd love to see Sean Payton back here as HC. I think we would score about 50 points per game with Payton.
My top three choices in order are Fisher, Payton, Cowher.

I think the negotiating for coaches thing is on the fritz. In any case, money does nothing, since Fisher signed an extension with Tennessee already. In the past, draft picks have been sent as compensation, but I thought that we killed by the league - then, the Chiefs sent a 4th rounder to the Jets for Edwards (the Chiefs got killed in that deal) last year, so maybe it's still possible. I just don't think in the long run, it's ever done any team any good. I mean, the bucs were on the doorstep for years, Chucky may or may not have had anything to do with their final rise. They traded away two first rounders, and now have a gigantic gap between their aging stars and the young talent.

i would think money would be the only thing that could work here, then.

fisher signs for say $3mil a year (no idea what he did sign for) for 1 more year. now tennessee has to decide if they want to pay him what he'll command next year. what if dallas came along and said "we'll pick up that $3mil, toss on another $3mil for you to nuke that contract and free him up, and then we simply sign him after that.

i would think the contract can be ended but what would entice tennessee to do it?

I've never heard of monetary compensation swaying anything in today's NFL. It's all funny-money at this point anyway. It's not like Tennessee needs and extra couple-million more than they need Jeff Fisher. Anything is possible, but I've never heard of that going down. It's draft picks - and the NFL may have put a stop to that. Plus, Fisher would have to want to coach here, more than Tennessee for that to go down in the first place.

I wonder if there's a correlation between BP running out of energy in December and our team floundering in December. As in, does the team sort of follow him into it?

Hmmm, it is a co-incidence, huh. Not enough energy to push them down the stretch. Notice after the Atlanta game he gave them 4 days off, wonder who needed it more, them or him ?

This is where you lost me. Assuming you meant Head Coach of the NYFG, this makes absolutely no logical sense to me. BP just spent the past 4 years to get this team built in his image. Almost every player has been hand-picked and he says that he knows every one of them.

Why on earth would he take a job in NY, and have to start the process all over again? While they maybe on the same level as us talent-wise (certainly record-wise), they are not his guys.

I know he has a soft spot with the Giants, but this seems completely unrealistic.

there has been no "talk" of that in any of the local media (tuna as coach or GM)..

pioli is the heavy favorite for GM of NY

GM will probably pick the coach and be selected first (accorsi is retiring)

parcells is 26-19 up until thanksgiving and 8-13 after since he's been here including the 0-2 playoff record. when the going gets tough, parcells's team goes home. he's done. i really hope he doesn't come back as a head coach. would love him to be our GM. if Jerry doesn't want to give up the GM title, he can atleast make him the VP of talent ops and essentially a co GM here. Parcells might not be a good coach anymore, but he's still a great talent evaluator and still has a lot of pull around the league.
