All of last year I heard former player say Tyler smith was a pro bowler or the second coming of Larry allen( r I p to the g o a t guard). Zack margins a hall of games who's still pro bowl level. Why can't they open more holes with these two in the line? Is it the players or the scheme? How do you have two pro bowl guards but have a ok at best run game? Even pillars went dominant with this line.
..ok

Both running backs have no burst and it was against a good defensive team with a good line.

I don’t think anyone is even “rating” an OL with 2 rooks playing positions they’ve never played before

Who is rating them high? We have two rookies who played well today. If the rookies hold up, Smith continues to be a beast and Steele returns to his old form pre injury, they have a chance to be really good in the years to come. Martins spot will need to be filled next year and hopefully a viable replacement is already on the roster.
Martin had a couple of whiffs today. I wasn’t keying in on Martin specifically but there was a play or two I was like damn Martin, just yell Ole’ and let your guy do what he wants. Lol.

Between our 3 RBs, they ran for a total of 70 yards. The problem is Dowdle used 8 rushing attempts for a measly 26 yards and a 3.3 yards/carry. Deuce ran 1 time for a 4 yard gain. Zeke ran it 10 times for 40 yards and a 4.0 yards/carry. Hope they give Deuce more carries next week and Dowdle less.
Dowdle looked very pedestrian today.

Overrated in week 1? Not possible if logic is applied.
One thing many of us noticed, Zack Martin wasn't good today. It may have been his worst as a pro. He wasn't the only one but he's the leader.

First game with two rookies, give it a minute. I also think the run scheme is blah.

Some of the critical characteristics of a successful offensive line is familiarity with each other, cohesion, and execution as a unit. That takes time.

You will notice that the majority of Super Bowl teams had an offensive line with 3-4 starters that played together for several years. That is typically necessary for the cohesion and synchronization required for a successful O-line

The Cowboys had two rookies playing their first game, one at a position he hadn't played since high school.

Tyler Smith lined up between those two rookies. You don't think that created a challenge for Smith?

Again, that front seven of the Browns is one of the best in the league and an offensive line consisting of two rookies playing their first game held their own against that defense.

And here is the important part:

This offensive line will get better week by week as the young players continue to lean and improve.

Tomlinson chopped his hands on the first sack but Dak held the ball too. He was giving the whole interior fits especially on run downs. He plays similar to elite bigmen of the past like Ngata crashing gaps across the face interior OL and the like.

I really have only had a chance to rewatch the first half but I find this take hyperbolic up to this point.
