Isn't that just more evidence of this team needing to stop the run? Yes, the examples you added we won- in other words the offense overcame those huge yardage amounts we gave up in the run game by helping us win anyway. That’s not a formula for consistent winning.

If you’re comfortable saying giving up big yardage in the run game isn’t a factor in losing, ok man.
Yes I'm very comfortable saying that.

More importantly, it's why rush yards totals are meaningless. Like the Cowboys didn't overcome anything when they killed the Bears, they just let them run because it meant they weren't going to score fast enough to keep up.

Stop the run and dak needs to play like the contract he signed. It’s that simple

In discussing the general impact of rush defense...
You need look no further than how the Cards dee'd us up in the second half. They conceded lots of run yards underneath to us but prevented passing success with the shell zones that Dak definitely struggles with.

They were willing to give up runs and field goals. Just not touchdown passes.

That's one of those stats, though, that can be a bit misleading.

If you get behind early your opponent is going to run to run out the clock. The run defense is some of these cases is not the prime reason you lost.
If you get behind early and the other team is running to kill clock, and you know it, see it, but can’t stop it, I’d say that’s even more revealing than when they are mixing run and pass. We fell behind the Cardinals early, and they kept running. When you can’t stop it, your offense never has good field position and is standing on the sideline too much. Comeback wins are as dependent on the defense as the offense.

More than stopping the run, and more than being able to run the ball yourself, when you play San Francisco, it's about matching their physicality and will. If they can do that, the Cowboys will have a chance to win the game. If they don't come ready for a fight, then they will lose. It's literally that simple. The Cowboys, even moreso on offense than defense, has lost the line of scrimmage the last two meetings. That has to come to an end on Sunday night. We'll see if they are up for the challenge.
