I was thinking that we should rank the teams from first to last before FA and then afterwards to see what teams make the biggest jump. After the draft we can update our list and then crown an OFFSEASON CHAMPION. I'm at work so I'll be doing my list when I get home.

I'm not a big fan of making alot of noise in FA, as we see what that has done for the Skins over the years as well as last years winner, the eagles. Now having said that I do think there are some good young players available in this years crop that definately fit in areas that we desperately need help in. I've always believed that champions are built through the draft rather than FA.

I have a feeling that Carr will be a day one signing for us, he's young and in his prime in an area we need help in.

Now comes the big unknowns like Nicks and Williams which both will command a huge contract, but again they are young and would fill a major need for us. I think either one of those along with Carr would be a great off season for us.

The Commanders have gone about it the wrong way, over the years they have signed a bunch of older players past their primes and guys with attitude problems who nobody else wanted (Deion, Jeff George, Bruce Smith, Jeremiah Trotter, Dana Stubblefield, Adan Archuletta, Albert Haynesworth, etc.) to HUGE, RECORD level contracts.

Te Eagles failures last year had nothing to do with their FA signings, it's who they DIDNT sign. They had the worst group of linebackers in the NFL and an offense that committed too many turnovers.

You usually don't have to wait until the end. The Skins won the minute they gave Haynesworth $100M, for example.

I think that Snyder in the past as well as Reid last year get caught up in the "big names" rather than signing a FA for need feeling that it somehow propels them to "elite" status with big names on the roster

I don't know every move that teams have made this off season and these rankings are just my best guess as to how the season may play out. I also took into account young players getting better and teams getting better chemistry.

Before FA

1 Green Bay
2 New England
3 Giants
4 Baltimore
5 San Fran
6 Saints
7 Pittsburgh
8 Houston
9 Lions
10 Atlanta
11 Philly
12 Cowboys
13 Bengals
14 Titans
15 Broncos
16 Bears
17 Jets
18 Chargers
19 Cardinals
20 Seahawks
21 Chiefs
22 Panthers
23 Oakland
24 Bills
25 Dolphins
26 Commanders
27 Jags
28 Browns
29 Bucs
30 Vikings
31 Rams
32 Colts

After FA

1 Packers
2 Patriots
3 Giants
4 Ravens
5 Steelers
6 Eagles
7 Broncos
8 Cowboys
9 49ers
10 Lions
11 Bengals
12 Houston
13 Falcons
14 Chargers
15 Saints
16 Bears
17 Titans
18 Bills
19 Commanders
20 Jets
21 Bucs
22 Panthers
23 Seahawks
24 Chiefs
25 Cardinals
26 Rams
27 Raiders
28 Browns
29 Dolphins
30 Vikings
31 Jags
32 Colts

Now I'm crossing my fingers that we go guard/pass rush in the top 2 rounds.

The Texans already lost Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans and Eric Winston. All prominent starters over the last five years. How they don't come in last place regarding free agency will be a mystery. They can sign whoever they want, but thet aren't getting better players than those guys.

The rankings are based on how I think they will do next season. Sure the bucs did great but I don't see them in the playoffs yet. A solid draft could change that tho.

I think the Skins win again, trading away their future for an unknown.

Either that or Buffalo or Detroit, giving out absurd amounts of cash for positions that aren't QB or Left Tackle.

I wouldn't trade our off season for those two

me either but they got more than that just those are the biggest, we don't need vjax. their haul makes them better, and their haul makes them a degree or two better than our haul makes us

Exactly. Eagirls as much as I hate them had a hell of a free agent class. I also think the short training camp hurt them. I wouldn't put them in the same boat as the Deadskins. Cullen Jenkins, Nnamdi and Babin played up to their contracts if not more last year.

Since the Patriots have signed like 15 players, I'm sure most folks are calling them the champs.

The big losers are the Texans. Williams, Ryans, Winston will hurt.
