and here is why. The cost of the rookies combined with the salary cap and free agency has the points out of whack. As an example, Miami reportedly wants out of the slot but can't find anyone to move up. The reason is the cost benefit just isn't there.

So for all of you guys who keep citing the points as a reason it will or won't work I would disregard that system. It is supply, demand and the value is in the beholder. Right now there doesn't appear to be a player that is coveted enough for someone to break the bank for.

The values in the top 5 and maybe the top 10 are but after that its pretty much the same. Its the top of the draft that is overvalued because the picks are so expensive.

I started saying this a year ago. I also noted that the problem is going to be getting a team to be the first to take less than what the chart says because they will have to fend of the media and their fans claiming they got ripped off. Once one team takes the plunge, that chart will be history and a new one will have to be made.

good, so perhaps now the so called experts would not want the cowboys to fork over 2 firsts plus marion barber to trade up to number one overall. not to say the cowboys need or should trade up, but that ransom is just obscene.

Why is everyone now complaining about system that's been this way for years?!

I haven't studied it but it would be interesting to see if the money paid to Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf in relation to that year's salary cap is the same or similar to Russell and the Raiders and last year's cap.

Do you like the revised point system that profootballtalk.com came up with better?
