Jerry not taking Moss. Yeah, it popped up in my YouTube videos that thanksgiving day game. My god by far the biggest miss this franchise has ever had. Coulda revitalized the triplets who still had plenty of juice left in 98 and 99. What a shame. FYI Moss had 4 catches that came and he ended up in the end zone on all of them.

A side note I think we all got robbed of what would have been one of the best Super Bowls ever Denver Minnesota in 98.

The Michael Irvin effect.

The biggest miss this franchise has ever had? You do know we were in need of a HC and a QB back in 2000. Bill Belichick was hired in 2000 by the Patriots and that's the same year Tom Brady came out. Putting those two guys together was our biggest miss.

But opinions vary.

Good point. Moss wouldn't have saved Chan Gailey or Dave Campo...

That scenario affects Jerry's thinking to this day.

Passed on Moss because of the negative press Irvin brought. Watched Moss tear up the league, at a position the Cowboys were lacking.

Since then hasn't seemed to be able to pass up a 'troubled' yet talented player.

Jerry Rice years earlier was a bigger miss… We were apparently going to take him but the 49ers jumped in front of us and drafted him.

Michael Irvin was going through his drug issues and court appearances which scared Jerry from taking Randy Moss. A lot of other teams passed on Moss, he wasn’t even the first receiver taken in that draft. Tennessee took Kevin Dyson over Moss. Not drafting Moss led to Jerry coughing up 2 first round picks for Joey Galloway two years later. Had he known Irvin’s career would end during the 99 season he might have taken the chance on Moss. .

The Cowboys drafted DE Greg Ellis. The Bengals had 2 first round picks that draft. So twice they passed on Randy Moss.

Culpepper was throwing the ball up for grabs with a stronger arm than Aikman.
I agree. Aikman in his later years was constantly under throwing receivers on the deep ball.

I know I know he hit Rocket in 99 on a deep one to win a game.
