The ONLY real test this week is not defending the blitz....

The test is.... WILL we ride our running back/running game to victory.

Garrett talked often when he took over the Cowboys about the "Cowboy Way"... well, guess what... he has a major component of those teams. An Offensive Line and Running back/game that can do what we did back then.

TEST: Will he do it?

I don't really agree. I think cowboys can run effective in most situations. What I am most concerned about is Cowboys ability to handle blitzes on 3rd down. I believe Dallas had highest 3rd down conversion in league before skins game. Haslett gave teams the template to use....all out blitzes on 3rd down. Force Romo to sit in pocket with a free player coming his way. Teams are going to bet on Romo not wanting to take that hit as he makes the throw and will instead look to scramble or simple go down. If he scrambles... the ends will make sure they have containment.

I expect Dallas to run their offense run and passing the ball. I expect OL to block, open holes and protect and our WR to make the catches.

Maybe people will shut up about Murray carries. We run him and people complain we limit his carries and people complain. Just run the damn offense and players go out and do their jobs.

Murray was asked if Washington set the game plan on how to beat the Cowboys? He said no! They are going to do what the have been doing.

The Washington game was a team loss, period! There is a lot of players that made mistakes or did not play to their usual self...missed tackles, dropped or missed balls, no adjustments by the coaches to handle the blitz...tons of bad things that the Cowboys were NOT doing during their winning streak. It was just one of those BAD games that all teams play every now and then.

:laugh:Well, that pretty much covers everything.

That is what makes the offense work, yes Dallas has ran consistently very well but we have also passed the ball very well thus far. Monday Night we ran well but struggled in the passing game.

I agree with him. Sometimes you just don't play well and Monday Night Cowboys did not play well. We don't need to reinvent the wheel we just need to get back to doing the fundamental things correctly. Teams have blitzed Dallas before the Washington game and the Cowboys picked it up and made plays. Defense while they have some weakness have been very sure tacklers this season keeping teams in bad down and distance which has helped them win a lot of big 3rd down battles, vs Washington they tackled poorly. They know how to play better than they did MN and they need to get back to it. It is one loss nothing to panic over

You have some of the most boring / PC posts I have ever read.

Simple things are boring, you guys get into these over analyzing everything when it is not that damn hard. If people are not pointing fingers they are acting as if the season is over. Yes simple and boring but and directly to the point

but he is right. just exacute the offense. it's really pretty simple

"Just execute the offense" no kidding. That's very generic. I am sure there are good game plans and bad ones.

Or maybe it is that simple. Just execute the play no matter what the okay is good or bad.

I believe Dallas had highest 3rd down conversion in league before skins game.

We still do (55.7 percent), and by a decent margin.

Also, Romo's rating against the blitz the season is 114.6, with almost half of his total TDs (seven of 15) coming on his 40 attempts vs. blitzes.

The Skins just executed and we didn't. I rewatched the game they tackled well and contested almost every pass. We struggled in many areas.

It doesn't mean they unlocked some secret that suddenly makes us lousy. Even with their good play and blitzing we win if we played better.

The team lost their focus. Washington came in and beat the Cowboys around physically.

I hope the team chews on all that!

I wish I knew why the offense looked so bad against the blitz.

I don't know it was because Romo was looking to make the big play as opposed to simply taking what was there or what.

As John Gruden pointed out on the telecasts, quite often the Commanders left the middle of the field open.

but I think we need to quantify different types of blitzes because 5 could still qualify as blitz as can 8 guys. From what I saw Romo had difficulty with all out blizes.

I am big believer in the team will take on personality of their leaders on game day. Romo was hesitant in that game after few blitzes. It then started to become a boxing match where Romo was getting pummeled. At that point, his vision really was significantly reduced because he is no longer looking for open WR (and there was plenty of that) but instead focused on line of scrimmage trying to see where next big hit was going to come from. I think Dez recognized this and started becoming lazy with his routes and certainly did Romo no favors in that game.

The real test is whether or not Romo is capable of playing like a QB making 100 million dollars.

QBs making 100 million dollars don't fold like lawn chairs because they are blitzed all game, rookies do. Smart teams are gonna bring the heat until we can stop it after the debacle last Monday.

I'll be watching to see if we can limit our turnovers.
