In the last few drafts we have addressed the LT.
We have addressed the Interior of the oline with OC, and Two OGs (counting UDRFA) so only a future long term RT needs addressed.

We have Drafted D.Lawerence and R.Gregory at the DE spots (although we can still draft more).

Let's quit ignoring the interior of the Dline in the first few rounds of the draft.

We know the history of the Cowboys and the 1 Tech. We know they just gave Crawford a new contract at the 3Tech.

I don't think there is a one or three tech that warrants a top 5 pick in this draft.

So whether we trade down or we keep our picks....We should get a good DT (one or three tech) in this draft as it is being seen as a good draft for DTs...we should be able to get at least one player in the first few rounds that could challenge and get time at the 1 or 3 tech positions.

I know they like Crawford and they like Hayden but I would imagine a decent DT in the first few rounds could challenge for playing time.

We finally seen the light and starting building the Oline the right way.

Let's put some more love into the D line and I am fine if they get a good DE they like but let"s not forget the interior of the line.

Been saying this for a few years already : )
Yes, the second round is the sweet spot. A lot of the mocks that are out have a bunch going in the first round right now, but hopefully that calms down a bit as the real thing gets closer. We don't want a big run on the DT's like happened the year Cooper and Warmack went in the top ten ! I think it would be a bloody miracle if we could grab one of the good DT's in the second. With Vernon Butler being my guy - right now. Big enough to hold down the 1-tech at 316, but with a bit of the quick twitch Marrinelli likes. The big names like Rankins, Billings, Robinson etc. will be gone. So him or Johnson would work....

I think you have to give Chaz Green a shot unless you hit the jackpot on a RT prospect that falls in the draft. They drafted him in the third round so they obviously think highly of his fit in this scheme.

I agree. I really want one of three big DTs: Robinson, Billings, Rankins. It'll probably take a top 15 pick to get them. Might be a reach at #4. Wouldn't mind trading back into the mid-1st to get one. We could always get one at #34 but I don't know if they'd be an immediate difference maker. We really need a stud on the inside to pair with Crawford. I think we can get one if we draft one in the 1st. People say we should take Spence or Bosa. I agree Spence is probably the best edge rusher in this draft, but he has issues and we should give Gregory a chance to man WDE. Same goes with Bosa and Lawrence at SDE. What we need is a big 300+ lber with run stuffing and pass rushing ability. I think we can get one in Robinson/Billings/Rankins.

Addressed means in the draft, in fa or currently on the team in this context. I realize Chaz is sitting there and I hope he can do the job but frankly he was a player in college that had injury issues and in his one year in the pros he has had injury issues so I am not going to hold my breath.

But at the same time...you can't have steak at all positions as the saying goes so as good as the LT, OGs and C has been...teh RT might never live up to it.

You'll get no DTs and like it.

Well, actually I lied, you will get Nick Hayden back on a 4 year deal.

I believe the best 3 tech in this draft is Robert Nkemdiche and the best 1 tech in this draft is A'shawn Robinson... I know most cowboy fans would probably scoff or gripe about these two at #4 but it wouldn't bother me at all..

Doesn't matter where you draft the best player at his respected position, whether its 4 or 14 who cares, as long as you grab him when opportunity presents itself.

Unlike RBs in last years draft...they have drafted DTs in the later rounds.

....Such joy and elation with my pet cat Bishop lol

CBS' updated rankings have 9 DT's ranked in the Top 57 players...............so, they would probably would need to take one @ 34..............if they want one of the Top Tier Guys.

This post makes a ton of sense.
But I am still taking Tunsil if he is on the board if there is no trade down offer.

I think #34 is the sweet spot for DT this year. I think there will 2 or 3 that will immediate upgrades over Hayden. I think it could happen. When Marinelli was the D-line coach at Tampa they took Booger when they already had Sapp. I don't think he likes the big lumbering type of 1-tech, but if there is a talented, dynamic 300 or 310 lber at 34 I bet we take him, unless some one much better at a different position.

In my opinion we need 3 new DTs for this roster.A 1tech starter, his backup and Crawfords backup.Knowing Marinelli he would ignore the DT position completely,

If we trade down then i have no problem with 2 of our 1st 3 picks picks being DTs.this is a great draft for DTs and i hope they ignore the coach and bring in actual talent.

I would project this as my direction also. Only way that I change, is if Tunsil reached pick 4.

I would take two defensive tackles and a future MLB in my first three picks. Hopefully in rounds 1 and 2 for them all.
