In lieu of all other headlines, and all the Zeke news.
Great he is playing. And this will go on for a few more days, even weeks.
I missed a lot of posts and threads, and only seen, read, responded to a few things. But that may have been a good thing. But back from my trip, which was great. And I really do not want to spend a lot of time reading through it all. Zeke is playing for week 1, that is the 1st step..
however...there are others things going on.

But the other headline that should be mentioned, Jaylon's debut....Shouldn't the networks be working on stories of his recovery and his upcoming debut. May take away some everyone talking Zeke, and the haters screwed up opinions.

I, myself am as exceed to see Jaylon play, as I am that Zeke will play. I hope he, in his limited plays, lights up Sheli. cannot wait to see him in there. what a glorious moment this will be. Not just for Jaylon, but we as fans,

On the downside, Kellen is back...you mean they could not find a 53rd player better than him...oh well, Zeke is playing, Jaylon makes his debut, so that is far better than being concerned over Moore. LOL.

So a little more pumped now about the game than I was a few days ago.

The Cowboys star truly is pointing north for week 1. If it weren't for the FO love for Kellen Moore I would be singing their praise but now I see they still have flaws... not enough to not have hope for the future but the inability to let go of Moore is just sickening, IMO. I'm hoping Jaylon has a great game and our Cowboys get a home win vs the giants.
Go Cowboys! :starspin::flagwave::yourock:

Ha ! I was just researching this as I prepare for my weekly IDP plugs. Do you think this kid is ready?

I think he is ready to get on the field, and get some plays in. don't over do it, ease him in. As too full time, no not yet.
Also put him in the right situation for success. on't put him in on a critical play. Choose the down and distance for him to get in some quality plays.

however, do not change the game plan, just to get him in on certain plays. In other words, do not over think it. His playing time is not important as to the game itself.
I think they know this though much better than I...LOL...I just want to see him make some good plays. They do not have to be game changing plays, but just solid play and do what he is supposed to do. Bt man, a sack or tackle for a loss, cause a fumble, a pick....anything like that sure would stand out and be great.

I am waiting with baited breath for those posters who keep insisting Jaylon will never play in a meaningful game to be honest and brave enough to step up and admit just how wrong they were.

I have a hunch I could be waiting for a long time for that.

I'm not expecting Jaylon to play much at all honestly. A few snaps perhaps, I imagine 5-10. I want to get excited about him, but he just doesn't look like he is back to 100% to me.

He's been taking first team reps at MLB, of course the team thinks he's back. He and Durant will split the Hitchens snaps, and Durant definitely can't play majority snaps considering he hasn't had much of a pre season

I think we need to really calm expectations for him. I think it is great he is back on the football field. In all reality he has not been back at full speed for a long time. Just by watching him, he is not the same player he was in college. I don't think any of us should expect that right now. Hopefully he gets back to that stage because he was just a fantastic college player. Before he got hurt, he was my favorite player in last years draft class.

Right now, I think teams would really pick on him if he is on the field much. Let him continue to get better and maybe at some point he can be a factor. We are really shallow at LB, so I hope we can do this. The team has a much better feel and they tend to be conservative anyway, but in all honesty if we had a solid LB depth I would have preferred we used the IR for Smith rather than Rico for these first 8 weeks.

Maybe I am off base, but I just don't think we can expect much for Jaylon anytime soon.

I'm right there with you. I've always had a time table that didn't require or expect much of Jaylon tell next season.

Define much. What do you expect from him? I expect him to make a few plays, maybe even a splash play like a sack or tackle for loss, and be out of position a few times. Overall I expect him to have just a good first game in the NFL, not "Sean Lee" great, and not crap either. And on the field for ~15 plays.

TBH I expect him to ride the bench for the most part. It seems clear to me that he is not 100%, so i just don't understand the rush.

I hope I am wrong, but what I think we can expect from Jaylon is pretty good power but below average change of direction. Part of that might be mental.

The excitement of the game might bring out the best in him if it is a mental thing. If he isn't physically ready, I really hope he doesn't injure himself and get set back. That would be the worst case scenario.

So less than 15 snaps? The Giants are in 3-4 wideouts almost every play, so it's possible Jaylon is not on the much. The only rush is we are really, really thin at LB.

Yeah I was looking at the depth chart and we are going to have to rely heavily on Wilson, Durant and Wilber.

And Durant is not ready for much load yet either. If we're gonna be this thin at LB, NY is the right team to be playing. I can see a lot of 4-2-5. Rod loves that 3-3 look though, so we could use that a lot too. Wilson should get a full load Sunday.

Durant is not going to play all the snaps.

There were many veteran 4-3 type LBs released on cut-day and they didn't pick up any of them.

Nzeocha was the primary backup MLB this preseason and he's gone.
