Btw to de-rate someone because of where they went to school is silly.

It is and it isn't. It is more about the coaching they are getting rather than the school. Texas hasn't been getting players NFL ready for a while. In the early Brown era they were, but they began producing fewer and fewer elite NFL prospects as the years went by. The next two coaching regimes didn't really change that. Maybe that changes some under this current coaching staff.

I get what you’re saying and you’re right in that UT hasn’t developed NFL talent. However, in the case of Bijan Robinson, who has shown to be an elite level talent, it is silly to ‘de-rate’ him because Limas Sweed, Eric Metcalf, or whoever you use as an example didn’t meet expectations and since they went to the same school, Robinson will also probably not reach expectations. Each player should be judged on an individual basis. Scouting is projecting and any scout worth their salt will tell you it’s not wise to ‘scout the helmet’.

Also, if the judgement is that Texas coaching has been so bad at developing talent, shouldn’t the thinking be that he might be even better in the NFL with better coaching?

Hence why I said it is and isn't. You still have to look at the individual players apart from what college they attended, but you also need to judge them extra harsher because that school, coaching staff or program may be up to snuff. Every factor matters when evaluating and drafting a player. Don't write them off because of the school, but don't ignore the school, either.

Better coaching can possible make a difference at the NFL level, but maybe it won't be enough to overcome what has already been instilled during their college years. It is something to consider.

If ya'll are gonna bring up all of the old Texas players in the NFL.... how do you forget Jamaal Charles!!
3rd round pick in 2008, explosive NFL talent. I was really hoping the Cowboys would get him, but instead we drafted
Felix Jones in the 1st round and Martellus Bennet in the 2nd. LOL

It is and it isn't.

More importantly, it's level of competition. You need steel to sharpen steel.

There are some real paper tigers out there. Hard to know if the player is that talented or just better than what he's playing against.
