Other than the development of our young players, IMO this season was thrown away by the front office in the off-season. They either chose to just sit this season out or they are just incompetent. Either way this FO is a joke.

How are the players responding? They know this coaching staff is a goner. And the players act like it. Which was also completely predictable.
Exactly Bob!!

How do you feel the team is responding to this season? Do you feel they're giving their all, some are, some aren't? Do you feel that this season is being taken seriously after knowing the writings on the wall of being all-in, and not doing much to help this team be successful this season? If you were a Cowboys player, how would you feel about this season thus far? Please give your thoughts.....
My thoughts on any Cowboys game.

Impossible to evaluate a roster when so many key players are out or playing injured. The group we’re putting on the field right now just isn’t very good. We’re deficient in so many key areas it isn’t even funny. Fully healthy (by that I mean key players are on the field), our 2 weaknesses were RB and interior DL. We could have a healthy Henry right now and it wouldn’t matter. Can’t win if we can’t keep teams from scoring 30+.

This season has been a failure on every level. Players seem to have quit too. It’s a dumpster fire and might be the low point in my 45+ years of fandom.
I’ve watched every single Cowboys game, beginning to end since 1977.This year is the 1st time I’ve actually turned off games before the end. That’s how bad this team is ,starting with dumb & dumber who are clueless on how to run a football team, but their 1st priority is to make $.QB play, Oline,D, coaching, is all atrocious. This team is a friggin’ joke.It all starts at the top an trickles down.

Going into the season with no legitimate running attack was pure folly. When you add the crippling injuries on defense, any type of winning season would take a miracle.

If the offense wasn't so one-dimensional and the defense wasn't beat up then I would hope for some late season improvement as the younger starters became more adapted to NFL football.

However, both Bland and Diggs came back too soon and are struggling, the D-line is a joke in it's present state, the RB's are either practice squad level talent or has-beens, and Zimmer has done a very poor job of transitioning the players to a new defense.

I regret to say that I see no reason to believe this team will improve down the road.

JJ quit the season before it started

Martin announces he is thinking about retiring (which means he’s already retired, should not have been brought back)

Entire staff on one year contracts

Zeke brought back despite being a terrible RB (getting playing time while better players sit)

11 veterans left, replaced by a single 30+ year old LB, and the rookie class

The “all in” statement

The players never stood a chance, this season was horribly mismanaged, plus their hubris made them think they could actually go further in the playoffs.

This team, despite their record, is worse than the 1989 team.

The 1989 team was great, had Irvin and a true franchise QB and JJ just getting started. There was a lot of hope to be had. Today, I feel like it’s a merry-go-round with no end in sight.

The Cowboys are not the disaster too many here make them out to be. The team locked down their QB. The only reason it was for $60 million per season was because they waited too long to do it. Lamb is signed. He’s a bonafide top five NFL receiver. It’s a legitimate start. The team accomplished little else building the roster. They find themselves in an NFC that is more aggressive than Jerry Jones anticipated. I’m sure he is surprised by the challenge this season has been for his team.

The team isn’t winning 12 games again this year. It may make the playoffs, but the Cowboys are not going to beat teams like the Lions, 49ers, Packers, in the playoffs. I agree with those here that have indicated the OL and DL must be upgraded to facilitate success. The division got more competitive with the advent of the Commanders fast development. Jerry has to consider a similar overhaul to get the Cowboys better able to compete.

The seeming unwillingness to emulate teams that are successful is discouraging Cowboys fans. Jerry Jones should care about the Dallas Cowboys more than any Cowboys fan. Every fan is starting to believe he doesn’t.

The owner and his kid are absolute crap and there’s no hope at all as long as they’re running the team! None, zero!

MM was a lamb duck from day 1. When you have no input on the roster or coaching staff.

Anyone that knows team sports will tell you that there are good and bad years. This is a bad year...depth, injuries and the worse one, a lame duck staff. Landry had bad teams, Jimmy's last game as a coach, he lost to jacksonville by close to 70 points. Chit happens...how you respond is what matters, looks ahead and quit worrying about what ifs. Can't change the past, you can learn from it, if you don't get consumed by it.
What is it actually that can be learned from this season, when there is no resolution to the core issue that has relegated this team to mediocracy for the past 3 decades? The only lesson, and it’s been a consistent one every season since the end of the past century, is that Jerry can’t produce a winner as a GM.

You just said it, no resolution to the core issue. The quicker some learn this, the quicker they can go back to rooting for their team and not against it.
