I don't want to :horse: and maybe this was covered , but don't you think that the reason we got thumped by N.O. was all Sean Peyton and his coaches.

I know this was last week and old news but with all the talk of how we got our butts handed to us I think we should put this loss in perspective.

From what I've been reading and what I saw, he knew (SP) everything we were going to do before we did it. Everytime they came up to the line of scrimmage and saw our "D", Breese called an audible

I think, him knowing our team as well as he did, helped him immensely on his play calling

I don't want to say we were outcoached ,I think we were out smarted.

We are not that bad as we showed.

If we had the smarts enough to show S.P. different looks and things he hadn't seen before by the Cowboy team, the outcome would have been completely different.

My point will be proven this Sat. nite.

I'm sure the old Boys will show up.:falcons:

We lost the New Orleans game in the first half when for some unknown reason we stopped running the ball. Parcells said we didn't have the opportunity to run the ball as much as he would have liked in the first half because we didn't run enough total plays. Bull crap!!!! The reason the time of possession was so lopsided is because we got pass happy and had too many 3 and outs. JJ was running very well in the first quarter (and I don't just mean the 77 yard TD run), but we kept trying to throw the ball downfield. When you're running the ball well and your opponent has a very potent offense, you want to CONTROL THE CLOCK AND RUN THE BALL to keep their offense on the sidelines and to wear out their defense!!!!! We didn't follow this simple and proven blueprint and we lost. The bottom line is our coaching staff got its ***** kicked all night long.

We were extremely outcoached. BP underestimated Payton big time.

Would you run the ball on third-and-long?

We couldn't run the ball more because the first SIX times we had a third down (all third-and-long), Romo threw an incomplete pass. If Romo converts 60 percent of those into first downs, as he had before that game, we would have been able to keep running the ball. But you can't do that when you don't convert on third downs.

Exactly. Not having the ability to convert those pesky 3rd downs is what ultimately killed the running game. And no doubt, if we tried to run for the first down, we'd all be calling for Parcell's head.

things MAY haave been much different if DeMarcus Ware makes that tackle when the Saints went for it on 4th and 1 with a reverse. We were up 7-0. We woud have gotten the ball at midfield.

The Rams tried the EXACT same play on the Bears Monday night. The Bears had a player IN POSITION to make the play (as DeMarcus was)...EXCEPT the Bears made the play

*** the NO game. However, the the fact that Payton and Gibbs coached for the Cowboys -- while helpful -- is way, WAY overrated.

We just played like total crap.

You don't get beat that soundly unless several things go wrong.

There isn't just one thing that happened that caused everything to go south. Several things went wrong at the same time.

Just like the cliche:

We are not as bad as we looked that game and we are not as good as we looked in other games.

I agree you've got to throw in that situation. However, I've believed that the game turned after NO's first score. They had just completed a long drive and we came in with 3 straight passes on the ensuing possession, obviously not converting.

Before the D even had a chance to catch its breath, they were back out there, and we're playing catch up the rest of the night.

Having Payton and Gibbs helped, but after we got that quick TD, a few players might have thought the game would be easy. Within a couple of series they found out otherwise. The fact that our season-long weaknesses were played like a violin was just icing on a patty-cake.

Enough of the past; back to the future!
