The Patriots Have Two First Tound Picks... Would You

I think we will trade them Austin for their two first round picks. Or maybe their highest 1st and 2nd round picks.

They own the Raiders pick at 17 and their own pick which is likely to be 30th to 32nd. Suppose Belichick wanted Marcel Dareus at 9 and offered 17 and 32. Would you take it?

I would unless Peterson or Fairley were there at 9. I can't say that about any other pick.

Wouldnt think twice about it. Would jump all over it unless Fairley was there with our pick at 9.

Look at the poster before my post and you will get it. :)

More likely New England offers the 17th pick and one of their second round picks.

I'd love that trade!

I think the value early on is the later part of round 1 and into round 2.

But I can't ever imagine Belichick giving up the 17th and 30th (or so) for the 9th. Those guys greatly value draft picks and take pride in getting true value (or much better).

I guess maybe he would take our 9th, keep his 30th, and trade his 17th pick plus his late 2nd and 3rd rounders.

What amazes me is how many picks those guys always seem to have while still playing in Super Bowls

The Patriots success isn't about having to have one person, and they have maintained a highly successful team for years drafting late in the 1st round, so i don't think they would even consider this move.

New England does a great job of taking advantage of teams willing to give up higher picks in later years for current year picks (e.g trading a 3rd rounder this year for a 2nd rounder this year). Dallas appeared to be following this approach for a couple of years but stopped doing this in 2009 when it decided to use all 12 of it's picks. IMO Dallas would have been better served rolling over some of these picks for future picks.

For my previous post make that a 3rd rounder this year for a 2nd rounder next year.

I'm not 100% sure, but didnt they move up for Jared Mayo?

Without a doubt as of right now.. Once Peterson is off the board, there isn't " really " anybody left that would be worth the 9th pick for the Dallas Cowboys.

With #17 and whatever is the other one, there are a TON of options and directions they would have available..

Hell, if Peterson and Fairley were on the board I would very strongly consider trading with the Pats.

Carimi at 17 and Wiz with their 2nd pick.

1a) Carimi RT
1b) Wiz RZ
2) Martez ILB
3) Deunta FS
4) Moffett LG
5) Kirkpatrick C

How you like them apples?

I dont see that happening, I think Roy W. could be on the outs so we will need Austin to bounce back with a big year.

They actually moved down a few pegs in that draft (they owned the 49ers pick):

No. 7: Patriots to Saints. New England traded its first- and fifth-round selections (No. 7 and 164) to New Orleans for New Orleans' first- and third-round selections (No. 10 and 78).

Would I do it? Entirely depends on who is there at nine, but that would give you three of the top 35 picks and you could land two OL like Cannon and Carimi to man the right side.

Oh hell yes I do it...

1 OT Derek Sherrod Miss St.
1 DE Cameron Jordan Cal
2 CB Jimmy Smith Colorado

I'd probably do that, but I don't think the Dallas front office should be allowed to try to trade with NE.

That's like sending a puppy out to deal with a pack of wolves.

Dallas will probably end up giving up picks next year to NE to move down. ;)

Not that I'm repeating myself off another thread...

How about if New England was on the phone.....
Trade out #1 at slot 9
For their
#1 slot 17
#2 slot 33
#3 slot 96
