Eagles Notes: Chad Johnson ponders Eagles - and Cowboys

The good news for Eagles fans is that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson is at least thinking about wearing green. The bad news is he's also thinking about life with a star on the side of his helmet.

"If I can get out of Cincinnati, the sky's the limit," Johnson told ESPN the Magazine. "What could I do in a place like Philadelphia or Dallas? It would be ridiculous. It's gonna be like a whole new me, like Ocho Cinco 2.0."

Johnson, who for some reason is serving as a guest editor for the magazine, said in the same story that he plans to play for the Bengals this season.

"Am I coming back?" he asked rhetorically. "Of course I am. I told my coaches I'm going to California to act, but the truth is I may come back to the Bengals as early as June. I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid."

Preaching turnovers

After finishing last season with a league-low 19 takeaways, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is stressing getting to the ball in these minicamps. In fact, the defensive players are required to pick up the football and sprint with it even after incomplete passes. "I don't know who started that, but it's getting on my nerves," safety Brian Dawkins said. "No, I'm just kidding. It's different. To me, it's all a part of conditioning also. You get to the ball and you pick it up. It's about practicing turnovers and picking them up and scoring. At the same time, it's about having a good time. You're supposed to have a good time on the defensive side of the ball."

Extra points

Quarterback Donovan McNabb will be at Citizens Bank Park tonight because he wants to meet Cincinnati Reds star Ken Griffey Jr. McNabb also plans to meet with Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and may even take some batting practice. . . . Rookie fullback Jed Collins did not practice yesterday; his appendix was recently removed. . . . The Eagles will practice in the morning today, then attend their 10th annual playground-building project at the William Bryant School in the Cobbs Creek section of the city. The players will be there from 1 to 2:30 p.m. - Bob Brookover

Is this guy bipolar? He said he'd play for Cincy, right? Now one day later, he's talking about other teams. They've said they won't trade him. Give it a rest Ocho.

Don't get me wrong, he would improve our team, but it doesn't look like it will happen.

what would he do different here or in philly?

He played in cincy with an above average running game and a great group of wr.

And I will take some heat for this, but I believe Carson Palmer is more talented and a better quarterback than Donovan Mcnabb or Tony Romo.

Obviously Dallas and Philly are better teams, but I dont see what johnson would do any different here. He had great talent around him in Cincy.

He is just a whiny baby.

Hes pissed because their defense sucks and will keep sucking. Rudi Johnson has clearly fell off and Irons is always hurt. They have done nothing to shore up their secondary.

If he wants to win like he says he does then he should want out of there.

Defense always sucked in Cincy.

I know, But he doesnt play defense. In the article he was referring to what he would do and I dont see it. He has already played with a great offense, just never on a good team.

Im kinda confused then.

He has only really chirped like he has this offseason where he is full on trying to get out of Cincy. Those better teams he played with still had suspect defenses and he never tried to get out.

the team is a sinking ship with the defense in the toilet, infighting in the coaching staff evinced by our new DL coach and a RB that is now just one year longer in the tooth.

I have a feeling that similiar to TO if we were to get him and compenstae him as a top 5 WR is compensated that he will suddenly become a model teammate. Coming to this team seems to have that effect on disgruntled WR.

5 years 40 mil would be the price tag though and i dont know if thats prudent considering Ware is coming up. I also think the Bengals asking price would too steep even at the bitter end. Washington offered a first and third after all.

I agree with you. I'm starting to think we may need to grow our own though.

All though this is not popular and I'm not counting on him, TG is the answer for this club this year. I've actually begun to be angry over the fact he is such an unknown. If he were healthy we would be a no nonsense SB favorite. Esp with the D. We have an absolutely monster team now even without him.

We aren't getting Johnson this year. He isn't going anywhere.

He's not my first option either (or second option, for that matter). But you'd rather have Crayton opposite T.O.? I will pass on that!

If this was possible I would love it, Chad and T.O. would be my number one recieving duo.

why are you confused. Its simple I am talking about his comment..

If I can get out of Cincinnati, the sky's the limit," Johnson told ESPN the Magazine. "What could I do in a place like Philadelphia or Dallas? It would be ridiculous. It's gonna be like a whole new me, like Ocho Cinco 2.0."

I dont think he would ever put up the numbers he did in cincy again. He was the lead dog in cincy. Here I could make the case he would be the third option most of the time behind owens and witten. So I am not sure what he is talking about when he talks about what HE could do in Dallas. He would have less stats here than he had there I believe.

It has nothing to do with the team. Again, he doesnt play defense. And obviously he would be a better team. He wasnt talking about teams or units in this article. He was talking about his own self and again I dont think he would put those magical numbers up many believe.

^I'm not sure he's talking about indivdual stats, I think he's talking about what he could do for the team. Adding him would make us unstoppable on offense.

Well if that is the case then I am wrong, but from that quote that is not what he is talking about. I took that like he would be amazing and I dont see that at all.

and secondly there is no such thing as an unstoppable offense. Its the gritty tough grind out the yards when you need them offenses coupled with a great defense that win super bowls.

Flashy offenses usually fizzle out by november and dissapear quickly in the playoffs. All offenses are stoppable.

We have the running game to get those gritty yards though, NE had that amazing offense last year but didn't have the running game to go with it. Our defence happens to look rather good as well.

The reason I think he would do great here is because of what T.J. was able to do in Cincy because of Chad. He would be behind T.O. in our offense and with that would get similar to T.J. IMO.

Dissing Washington how? CJ is a smart player and he know since washington sign two WR's in 2nd round, no place for him in washington now.

Really? :lmao:

We have a top 2-3 WR in the league, and we still have a place for CJ. You don't even have a top 10 WR, yet you don't have room for CJ? :lmao2:

This is why we make fun of Skins fans. You just make it all too easy for us.
