So im trying a new catchy title to my threads about the games. since i'm in Phoenix i thought this would work. any other ideas are welcome of course.

so as far as tonight's game, i was hoping to write a lot of notes to discuss, but i had a hard time writing much of anything to be honest with you.

when we got to halftime the first thing i wrote was "UGLY 1ST HALF!"

i think that can pretty much describe the game as a whole: UGLY

so i'll pretty much lay out some things i saw in the game that showed me something or stood out.

first off, let's start with how the game started, AOA.

i was impressed with his returns this week, and it was nice seeing us start past the 30yd line for a change. McCann didn't do too bad either when he got his shot. Ogletree needs to stick to receiving. i was hoping at the end of last season that he would be a returner but i just don't like something about the way he does it.

ok, so offensively i think it was a consensus that it was REALLY bad.

the o-line was somewhat porous tonight, to put it lightly. i think one thing they need to stress A LOT is picking up twists and stunts.

the first sack on Romo we saw Mario come around and put pressure up the middle. now i don't know if that's something where when Free sees him moving over to the center he needs to yell out or what needs to happen, but it was obvious that no one had a clue he was coming that way.

i'm noticing a trend with the middle of our o-line, and that being a "slowness"....now i like Bigg Davis and Andre, but they seem to have a slow reaction time to things, and quick inside moves get right by them.

the only pros that i saw with our starters was a couple of screens to Felix, and some connection b/w Romo and Roy for a change. However there always seemed to be something slowing us down, which we've seen a lot before.

it would've been nice to have had that extra second at the end of the half to let Buehler try that long FG

i think the most good things i saw from the offense was when our backups came in. i thought Kitna actually did a nice job tonight, and it was a great play when he hit Ogletree for the TD

i thought Marty B had another good showing tonight. i am LOVING how he fights to push forward when he catches the ball

on that note of the TEs, didn't see enough of the other guys to give a good feeling on them, but we saw for the 2nd straight week Gronkowski getting reps at FB with the 1st team. i think they are really pushing towards 2 TE and 2 FB on the 53 man roster.

speaking of 44, loved the dive up the middle with him on 4th down

ok back to the offense performance, i thought McGee was much better tonight than anytime this preseason, even though he hardly played at all in comparison. he just seemed to be a little quicker tonight.

ok onto the defense. yikes, another week where the running game is killing us. not too sure what to think about that, but i'm beginning to agree with others that Spears' absence could be a part of it.

it seemed like there was not a lot of interest on the part of the defense in playing tonight.

the only consistent effort that really stood out on our first team was Bradie, Ware, Spencer, Ratliff, and Newman. some of the other guys made plays, but these guys seemed to be going all out when they were out there tonight.

now i have a really bad note on Jason Williams, which was his penalty which caused Ware's sack/fumble/recovery to be nulled. they didn't show a replay of the penalty so who knows if it was legit or not.

unfortunately that gave J. Will a bad rap tonight, and may have caused an oversight on the fact that he seemed more active tonight than i've seen him the past 3 games.

another guy on the defense that seemed more active tonight than before was Marcus Dixon. he seemed to be around the ball more tonight.

now onto the concerns/bad things. the D seemed to be getting spread thin on a lot of plays where there was SO much space out there. i don't know if that was our scheme or something Houston did, but that can't continue against a lot of the offenses we'll be playing this year.

Ball got fooled pretty good on that first TD to Jacoby Jones when he bit on the outside move

i noticed McCann out there at corner and even though he didn't do a lot it seemed like he came to play and was going all out. i realize that should be a given but it seemed like a lot of our team was sleeping tonight.

Leon Williams - ugh. what else can i say? i wouldn't be shocked if he is one of the guys cut to bring the roster to 75. i didn't see him involved in plays...but when i did see him he was getting pushed around, pushed back, etc

so i wish i had more, and maybe i can keep the vomit in long enough this week to rewatch the game closer. i would like to look at our backup lineman to see how they did.

on last note, McBriar was his usual solid self. i think he'll probably make the roster.

as i said last week, any feedback on my recounts are appreciated, so any constructive criticism you can lend to how i go about these would help me to make them better in the future.

keep it up man. sounded good to me. level headed reactions to games are always welcome and i always enjoy members write ups so look forward to more of them. thought this was pretty on point.
