Clearly julius jones has gone completely overlooked by the NFL and even cowboys fan...

Personally I wasn't a fan of drafting him. I wanted Steven Jackson (still think he could have been a player for us). But I'm glad we got julius jones, and in addition Marcus Spears (and to some extent DeMarcus Ware)... and resulted in us getting Drew Bledsoe.

He is the nfl leading rusher right now in terms of per game yardage. More end zone touches will make him a pro bowler, and a higher profile player in the nfl.

P.S. Jackson leads the league in overall rushing yards.

I was screaming at the tv for Jerry to draft Jackson and couldn't believe it when they traded down. Until I found out what we got and that we drafted JJ. I'm pleased as punch with JJ this year.

P.S. Stephen Jackson has played one more game than Julius has, and is still only 77 yards ahead of him -- which is less than Julius', as you pointed out, league-leading per-game average thus far. Oh, yeah... and we play the Texans & their 29th ranked rush defense on Sunday. Best of luck, Stephen, holding Julius off all year long.

Let's just say that each of the 32 teams has 3 running backs on their team. That is 96 running backs in the NFL or just round up to 100. That means There are only 2 backs that have more skills than Julius Jones. I like Julius and think he is pretty good, but that is a bold statement.

Not "more skills". I said that Julius can do things that 98% of the backs in this league can't do. Other great backs have other skill-sets that make them great. But Julius has rare ability in what he can do. It's not to the same degree as #20, but Jones has a little Barry Sanders in him. Now, he's a more physical runner than Sanders ever was. Barry was finesse personified. But Julius has got some of that in him.

He has a wiggle and a burst, an ability to change direction without losing speed, that you just rarely see in this league. Go back and watch his rookie season. Now, Bill Parcells has been teaching him to run differently. He's teaching him to be a complete back that always makes positive gains & helps the "T-E-A-M". Something Barry Sanders, as brilliant as he was, never got the concept of. But that special kind of ankle-breaking ability is still there. It's just being mixed in with a greater mature and understanding of when to wield it.

And as The Tuna said today in his press conference, when he brings both his instinct and discipline into alignment, you've got one helluva back! There's been some growing pains, but the talent was always extremely evident. By season's end, all the NFL & its fans will know Julius Jones' name. And it won't be long after that, I predict, 'til he's regarded as the best back in the game.


And yes, I truly believe that...

Well, one thing that can't be ignored is the presence of TO doesn't allow the opposition to go with an 8 man front to stop us. This allows more space for JJ to run. The difference in JJ in general, other than not being hurt, is very little. I just see a guy that now only faces 7 man fronts instead of 8.

Now I like to talk running backs, but even with your thought of JJ being the best in the league, he still wouldn't belong in the same sentence as Barry. When JJ runs, he usually makes one move (cut) or maybe two. You regularly saw Barry make more moves than you can count in one run, without slow motion.

JJ might be faster in a straight line, but agility, well, Barry owned the term. His picture should be under the definition. He broke more ankles then Tonya Harding, you didn't want to be the next highlight by being in the hole Barry was heading through.

I haven't seen anyone approach Barry in today's game, he was one of a kind. You might want to check out some highlights of Barry, to refresh your memory.

I admit to being one of those people. But, I really am impressed with how Julius is taking over. He has really put the effort in and it shows. I shall now go and eat my bird...crow that is.
