Look guys. If you have ever played a sport before, you will know that the desire to be your best is what drives those who are successful.

I played football for 10 years, and other sports as well. I can tell you, I made very little money, and that didn't stop me from enduring concussions, surgery, broken limbs and all the other BS that comes from playing balls out.

These guys have exceeded what I managed to accomplish, and for the first time in their lives they are making tons of money. Do you honestly think they have decided to wimp out now that they are getting paid?

The passion comes long before the paycheck, and it doesn't stop there. These guys want it more than you give them credit for. Just because they aren't exhibiting it by running up and down the sidelines in a hell bent tantrum like TO, doesn't mean they are taking a fall each and every week.

I don't believe our team lacks passion anymore than similarly positioned teams. Does that mean EVERY Dallas Cowboy player is passionate? Not necessarily.

But you deal with those as they arise.

Everyone has their own personality and style. Passion doesn't have to look the same for all. Some of the most demonstrative folks on Sunday might actually be the least committed during the week to film etc.

Very difficult to discern from your Sunday seat be it at the stadium or your living room.

Not a bad post. Some very good points. I think the *** whooping we took in Philly had more to do with chemistry and locker room division than a lack of passion.

So many people are saying that the players are getting their long term contracts, and then toning down their performance level.

Romo and Barber are wimps for not not playing through their injuries.

The list goes on.........

Maybe that is the case with some player(s). I suspect that is an NFL dynamic and not unique to the Cowboys. But I absolutely don't buy it as a widespread problem with Dallas and certainly not with Romo and Barber. Geez, Romo was playing in serious pain vs NY. But you can't "gut out" a broken bone.

75% of that Philly game was truly embarrassing. To me it was not representative of the respective abilities of the two clubs. For Dallas it was certainly a meltdown. And yeah, I thought some players showed some quit, or lets call it less than 100% focus on execution, as the culmination of all the frustration.

In some respects you can argue that Romo, Witten & TO in particular showed their passion by seeking production outside the system with their schoolyard hookup. I thought that play was SOOOO telling.

For all the talk that Philly might be last years Giants, I think they will fold. They caught us at the right time, the peak of our collapse. But I thought it became far more about how we played than Philly did. How quickly people forgot that Philly lost to the Commanders the week before.

I think it'll be NY or Carolina from the NFC.

I agree for the most part. But Tank, Pac and a couple others are only passionate about themselves: which is why they must; AND WILL GO!!!!!!!!!!

Very true and very good post. Football is a very difficult sport I don't think most fans realize how hard it is and what the players do to get ready to play.

Good thread. I think if Philly can get by MN they have a shot. I wouldn't bet on that though.

I don't need to see temper tantrums on the sidelines but I would like to hear players after the game express frustration that they (individually & team) did not perform up to their abilities. No one seemed to be pissed!

I also can't fathom a team plane going home after that loss and reports that an uninformed person would have thought the Cowboys won the game. I got a feeling if you had a plane load of fans going home from Philly they wouldn't be all smiles joking around. I know I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone after that game.

Their comments were also generally relegated to how poorly the Philly game went bad and not an acknowledgement that they/the team underperformed for much of the season. If Philly beats us 27-20, Im afraid we never would have had the outrage and acknowledgement of need for change from JJ & WP. One good thing about getting our heads handed to us.
