Irvin isn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. That was a stupid pick.

If Dez has a monster year and the team wins big, it'll be Romo that gets the MVP.

Receivers don't win MVPs. The last one to do it was Jerry Rice, who had 22 touchdowns in 12 games in a strike shortened season back in the 80s.

I for one hope the Playmaker is 100% correct. The numbers he would have to put up to wrest MVP from a QB or RB would be legendary and that pretty much guarantees my FF championship glory!

A couple of analysts have picked Calvin Johnson to win the MVP this year, I didnt see anyone pick Stafford.

As for Irvin's comments..look I dont know if Dez will win the MVP. But comments like this get the conversation going. All it takes is one or two monster games at the beginning of the year from Dez and you'll hear in game commentators talking about "well Michael Irvin did say he could win MVP this year" and watch the steam pick up from there, could be a case of speaking into existence.

How in the heck did you come up with that I have "no belief in Dez" from my post you quoted, makes no sense. Coo coo? Anways, I do believe in Dez, but do I believe Dez can win MVP? I'm not sure, but that doesn't matter.
Because you was implying Irvin must be on drugs to make such a statement. Therefore you are either taking a jab at Irvin or you simply don't believe the statement to be true.

Tremendous talent, but Dez has only played at an elite level for half a season and people are already making asinine statements about what he can/will achieve. Let the kid play for a couple more years before we judge what he CAN do or even CAN'T do. I understand a lot of people (me aswell) are very optimistic about Dez's talent, but lets tape the brakes a bit.

Just seems like a lot of people are setting Dez up for failure if you ask me.

If you want to tap the brakes that's your decision. Doesn't have to be mine.

Michael is a true homer, with a tad a realism, but in this case, it's pure homerism. Rarely do receivers receive MVP awards.

For Irvin to say Dez is going to win the MVP award, it's a very outlandish remark, he might as well have said that Carson Palmer is going to win the award. Not a knock on Dez either, I'd say that about ANY WR who was predicted to win MVP. There has never been a WR to win the NFL MVP award, not Jerry Rice, not Randy Moss, not Marvin Harrison, and so on and so forth. Wanna no why? Because when a WR puts up huge numbers, it typically means the QB put up bigger numbers; Randy Moss in 07.

Fair enough.

Truth is....If Dez has a MVP caliber year it will be Tony Romo who wins it.

This is the truth of the matter.

There is no way Dez wins it over Romo, unless Romo goes down halfway through the season, and Dez still puts up monster numbers with Orton, lol.

I certainly think Dez can be the #1 guy in the NFL this year though. It's just nearly impossible for a WR to win the award.

Why so hard on Irvin? Bringing up drug use, calling him names. Pathetic

And it's a shame that no receiver has ever won the award. IMO the receiver can be just as valuable as the QB. You lose either during the course of the season and it dampers any playoff hopes. The Commanders game from last year comes to mind.

And there is always a first time for everything and I think Dez has the potential to be worthy of such an award.

I 100% agree with you, it really is a shocker that not one single WR has ever one MVP, there has been so many great WRs. Though, like you said, there is a first for everything. If a WR does end up winning it, I sure as heck would love for it to be Dez, but I just don't see it happening. I've been wrong before though.

When he said it again today nobody laughed at him. He gave a solid argument for why he would win it.

The GOAT Jerry Rice didn't even win a regular season MVP... So I highly doubt it.

He has a good chance to be the first because if he has a monster year and we make a playoff push. Not sure the media sportswriters who vote, would have trouble giving any credit to Romo since most have criticized him most of his career.
