That hit Troy took from LaVar Arrington in 2000. Michael unable to get up in Philadelphia was kinda a sign of the end but I still thought with Troy under center still had a chance but when he goes down I knew it was over.

Smith breaking the rushing record was pretty meaningless besides seeing Smith do it but still one of my favorite.

Romo coming in vs the Giants told me hey we might be out of QB purgatory.

Dak Prescott makes the play that ended Tony Romo's career. Prescott throws the game winner to Romo's BFF Jason Witten to beat the Eagles in OT 2016. There was no comeback available for Romo after that play.

Then the win in Pittsburgh.

2 day later Romo made the concession speech

Another question:

If we hadn't traded 3 high picks to move up to get Ismail, who would we have taken?

Ismail took off for Canada, so we then took Maryland. Wonder who we would've taken otherwise?

I know they swapped a 1st and gave up a 2nd, but what was the 3rd pick they gave up? I don't think it was a high draft pick.

They probably draft offensive tackle Pat Harlow if they don't make a trade up to the #1 spot. Most likely they would trade down if they didn't want the #1 overall pick. They made a lot of moves that draft. It was also possible to trade up just a few spots and still land Maryland.

That 89 team was tough to watch.

Btw, one of my favorite teams is the 81 team. That team was stacked with talent. Our team really hit rock bottom by 88-89.
Danny White, Tony Dorsett, Randy White, Drew Pearson, and the rest deserved a better outcome.

Don't know. If I recall correctly, they had some interest in Eric Swann, but not for the top pick in the draft. Swann didn't play college football anyway.
Outside of Swann, I don't know. That draft kind of sucked.

Super Bowl V was a bitter loss, but without it, we might not get Staubach quarterbacking Dallas from that point on.

1981 NFC title game: Not The Catch, but rather, Drew Pearson being tackled in the open field when he could have gone the distance and given Dallas a 34-28 win.

1993 NFC title game: Kosar to Irvin on 3rd-and-10 with Dallas leading 28-14. This might not seem too important, but Kosar and the Cowboys had suddenly had the momentum all turned against them, the Niners were smelling blood and Kosar couldn't cope with the heavy Niners pressure. Had this play not worked, it may have very well turned into 28-21, then a 28-28 tie, and then.....a loss.

2006 NFC Wild-Card Playoffs: Witten's 1st down being unfairly overturned and made into a 4th down. Had the ref let the ruling stand properly, it would have almost assuredly been a Cowboys victory.

2007 NFC Divisional Playoffs: Crayton not running his route a bit deeper near the end of the game. Had he just kept running, it would have been a TD and Dallas beats the Giants, 24-21.

2014 Divisional Playoffs: Murray fumbled on what could and would have been a 60-yard TD run. That would have put Dallas up 21-10 and possibly blown the game wide open in Green Bay.

Dallas had 3 picks in the top 14 selections which they traded for the number one overall pick. Their own pick, NO's pick, and MINN's pick.

Yep.
Steve Young could never beat a Jimmy Johnson-backed team. Neither could Brett Favre. When Johnson left, the mystique left also and the Packers and 49ers ascended. Those Cowboys teams were so dominant and so scary to other teams. They got into other team's heads and backed it up. Even Jerry Rice was ready to fight BEFORE the game.
I miss those days.
Coaches like Johnson don't come around very often.

From 1992-1993: Jimmy-coached Cowboys were 3-0 against the Niners.

From 1994-1995: Switzer-coached Cowboys were 0-3 against the Niners.

Lawrence Pillers strip sack of Danny White following "The Catch".

Carl Banks sacking Danny White and breaking his wrist in 1986. Season started 6-2, finished 1-7. Danny White had become a great passer, but he was never the same again.

I was thinking about plays or moments on the field that changed Cowboys History. There are many so here is mine.

1989 Aikman's throw against the Cardinals - It was the most astounding, accurate, and courageous throw I have every saw in pro football. Its was a 75 yd TD throw to James Dixon, in the closing moments of the game. Aikman stood in the pocket made the throw with a Cardinal DL in his face to blast the soul out of Aikman's body with the hit. He was knock out looking dead on the field after the hit. The pass was laser beam 75 yd. TD.

It affected Cowboys history in the following ways:

I. It showed you the glory and tragedy that would be Aikman's career. He would could win it all and give up all to win it all. Firmly ended all doubts by the Cowboys coaching staff that came from Miami who wanted Walsh at QB. Aikman was a franchise QB that could snatch a win from defeat or die trying (see 1994 NFC Championship lost).
2. Because the Cowboys defense would give up the win for the Cardinals the next drive causing Johnson to curse out Everson Walls for congratulating Cardinal Players after the game, it ended the mentality that Irvin warned Jimmy Johnson about the Dallas Cowboy complacency to losing. Everson Walls was cut at the end of the year. Jimmy established that only winning is expected and no reason to be happy with "keeping it close" and losing.
3. Allowed Steve Walsh to get starts so Johnson's master plan would yield the Saint's first and third round picks in the 1991 NFL Draft and a second round pick (that could become a first round pick based on performance) in the 1992 NFL Draft. for the Cowboys. Those drafts gave the Cowboys the 90's Dynasty.

i'll never forget the AIKMAN to HARPER throw..... for the winning TD in SF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:starspin::starspin::starspin:

Vikings fans still scream PI to this day.

Just watching the replay makes it look like PI. But watch the defenders feet. Footing was also terrible all game on that muddy field. He simply could not stop and recover.

How about Patrick Crayton dropping a pass against the giants that would have been a TD. Then giving up on another route. The cabo year. Maybe other plays in that game but those were killers. I really thought it was our year..

I don't believe I was ever more angry after a play in my life. I'm usually disappointed. But I tossed every curse in 2 different languages at Patrick.

Remember like it was yesterday. Heartbreaking. FYI, it was Carl Banks. Not too mention Phil Pozderac's constant holding penalties to kill our potential game winning drive near the end of that game.

I remember it too. Dallas was somewhere near mid field and kept getting big plays up the middle that kept getting called back. A false start by the right tackle was one of them I believe.

I understand your statement and I am not arguing. However, did Aikman get his team back when Steve Beuerlein finished the Deadskin win in 1991 and went on a 6 game winning streak including a wild card playoff win in Chicago? It was not until the season was over and Johnson told Aikman it was his team. The rest is history. Aikman was only in his 3rd year in 1991 and the team was 6-5 before he was injured in the deadskin game.

2016 was Romo's unlucky 13th season. Romo had been injured 2010, 2013, 2015 and 2016. So, he knew his 2016 concession speech was also his retirement speech.

Coaches talk that talk about not losing your position due to injury. But, let a winning streak happen and the player that replaces injured older player is balling, suddenly Coaches start to sing a new tune. "We want him at 100% and medically cleared before his return." No player during the football season is 100%.

Garrett was Romo's BFF until 2016. Garrett is just like any other coach. Hired and scared to be fired

Technically, the pass to Harper ended with Harper being tackled at the Niners' 9-yard line; it wasn't a touchdown. But Aikman did eventually throw a game-sealing TD to Martin a few plays later.

When he dropped it I knew we lost.
