I believe the backlash last week was related to the OL improving and the running game still being stagnant. People wanted a player to blame, and the Run to Darkness segment gave them that.

People complaining about his production yesterday, in any capacity, ought to tell you everything you want to know about the quality of the analysis of our running backs on CZ.

I'd say Atlanta is probably the closest to it right now when healthy.

Matty Ice, Stephen Jackson, Julio/Roddy, and Gonzo.. although he looks like he's at the end of his rope.

Close but Steven is no where near as dominate as he was 4 years ago, and ATL OL is slightly better than Dallas'

Idk man.. i think he's been the model of consistency over the last almost a decade. Haven't seen any signs of him slowing down yet.. dude is a beast.

I'd kill to have him on this team.. well, not really.. but, you know.. he's great.

:D

His style has caught up with him he as been dinged up a quite a bit the last few years. He is on the wrong side of 30

DeMarco Murray has been, by and large, an average running back with two standout performances, and a handful of other strong games. He has also had durability issues. Murray is a one cut guy who is a little stiff in his hips, and has the tendency to leave himself exposed for big hits.

Is the offensive line culpable for his lack of statistics? Yes. He hasn't exactly been a world beater with the opportunities that he has received.

Where he has been most underutilized prior to this season has been pass receiving out of the backfield. Murray is a good receiver with a pretty good catch radius.

Only missed one game over the past 3 seasons.. over 1,000 yards each year with at least 4 TD's each year.

Now, he does have the injury this year, but this will be the first time in half a decade that he's missed more than 1 game in a season.

The real reason people have turned against Demarco.....

Fans in general don't understand or accept that the running game is less about the actual running back and more about the offensive line/scheme. It's easier for people to say one guy isn't getting it done because fans eyes are trained to follow the ball during the game. So they only see Murray. It's the same as the QB position. They only see Romo. I guess it's easier to blame the guy with the ball in his hands than to actually fully understand the parts that are not on sportscenter.

The league has already shown that they understand the RB position is less about the back and more about the offensive line. Running backs are now 2-3rd picks while the linemen are taken in the first round.

I love Emmitt. But even Emmit had Nate, Erik Williams, Step, Tuinei.
It's not sexy to focus on the line or the scheme but this is where the games are won or lost.

That said...I am a big Demarco fan. The man is good enough that I only pictured Trent Richardson in a cowboys uniform for about a minute.

The real REAL reason is because we have an MMA fighter playing RB in the national football league which explains his tendencies towards drawing contact. I kid I kid, I could never hate on Murray.

Three names: Julius Jones, Marion Barber, Felix Jones. All touted as the second coming of Emmitt in their first year only to be reduced to junk bond status a season or two later. This team does not have a great record drafting running backs, so when the running game falters people are predisposed to judge the guy carrying the ball a failure.

Idk.. i noticed him running out of bounds and falling down before hits quite a bit in the St. Louis game so far.

Doesn't want to Marion Barber himself out of the league too fast?

I mean, i don't blame him.. don't need to go looking for contact every single play, especially when they're giving you the rock 20-30 times a game.

Yeah I was looking at his carries and saw that he was around 250s that maybe he had some lingering injuries that cut his numbers.
