The Police at least knew to call it quits when they started to get stale.

Oh please don't start these stupid vs threads again. That was definitely a low point in CZ's Off-Topic Zone history.

For my next feat, I will start the definitive Apple vs. PC (Unix/Linux doesn't get a say) thread followed by the iPhone vs. Android...

Ill give the police a slight edge because they have the better musicians. Never understood the appeal of U2 and especially how the Edge makes all those greatest guitarists lists. If not for his use of harmonics and open string octave dronings then his trick bag would be empty.
Heck U2 isnt even the best band outta Ireland let alone the world. Phil Lynott would give them a swift kick for being such wussies.

I have already stated that I like the Police more so don't take this as some U2 or the edge fan boy.

However I can respect what he does. He has his own sound and if the story is true I heard I find it interesting how it shaped his sound. The story I heard was that when he first started playing guitar he did not have much money and broke some strings. He would start working on using the remaining strings to make melodies and riffs and it turned out that it shaped how he played. Again I don't know if that is true but it is interesting if it is.

Either way they are not really my cup of tea and his style is not my cup of tea but I can respect it as his own sound.

How about a Ginger vs. Mary Ann thread, but spice it up. Use the "2000s" versions...
