What are we gonna do about OLB? Greg Ellis is getting up there an age and there's always a chance he could get some random freak injury in the game tomorrow (Demarcus Ware doesn't feel pain, knock on wood), then all we have left on the roster is Justin Rogers?! Remember what happened to our defense when Ellis went out 2 years ago? How long until Anthony Spencer is healthy?

Am I crazy to be worrying about this? This is the one thing that sticks out to me about our team right now. I'm not too worried about Kosier, or WR depth, but this is definitely giving me some stress. I absolutely in no way feel comfortable with Justin Rogers on the field for an extended amount of time.

I wouldn't be worrying at all if we hadn't cut Erik Walden. The worst part is, he was basically cut to make room for James Marten, who was then cut today. They should have been ready to get their gameday roster in place the day final cutdowns were due, instead of keeping James Marten around so they can maybe elevate a PS WR to the gameday roster. Poor roster management if you ask me, and it caused us to lose out on 1.) a quality player and 2.) much needed depth.

Someone make me feel better.

I don't see where the Cowboys are in horrendous shape at OLB. Could it be better? You bet but right how you have two Pro-Bowlers starting and a 1st round draft pick backing them up. Yes, that first round pick is injured but it appears that he will be back pretty quickly.

Then you have Rogers, who can fill in for a few snaps.

Don't forget that both Burnett and Carpenter were OLBers in college and have spent some time on the Cowboy roster as OLBers at one point or another.

It would have been cool if Walden had made the cut but he didn't.

I would expect the Cowboys to spend a mid-round draft pick or two on "tweeners" next April.

How would keeping a special teams project lessen your concerns?

Erik Walden showed absolutely no pass rush in camp, Wade Phillips mentioned it near the end of pre-season with final cuts looming.

He'd be no help tomorrow on defense.

Besides Justin Rogers, who's primary function is also special teams contributions, we have Bobby Carpenter and Kevin Burnett. They'd just have to fill in as best they could until Anthony Spencer is cleared to resume playing.

He hopes to be ready next week for Philadelphia, but week three is the more likely return date.

It goes to show you how spoiled we are with the talent on this team right now. People lets get real we cannot be stacked in talent at every position.

Hell we are stacked at OLB...two probowlers and a 1st rd pick from 2007 who has shown a ton of upside. We're stacked at ILB too.

Seems some think every position of the roster should be 2-3 deep with allpro calibar talent

Ya I think we need to be more concerned with WR. I shudder to think what would happen if 35 year old TO goes down.

Kosier, IMO, is underrated by many.

without a doubt we have had trouble in the defending the pass because last year we had two defensive ends playing outside linebacker along with a two inside linebackers who were truly a middle linebacker (zach thomas should help there) and a strong safety who is truly a strong safety and very mediocre in deep coverage.

Hopefully this year we have zach and burnett in the middle in nickel with hamlin and henry over the top.

Time will tell if this formula can be successful....

Another person who values Ellis. Welcome to the club. Walden is gone. We have other people on the squad who can rush the passer.

Yes, I'd say you are a bit crazy to worry about this. Freak yourself out with "what-ifs" and you'll never have peace. Just how deep do we expect this team to be? Fact is, if injuries happen, they happen.

Who has more talent at OLB then we do? Ware, Ellis and Spencer is an amazing amount of talent.
