Yeah, I know. In the post game news conference Romo said that SF was playing some coverages that they weren't expecting, so perhaps that added to his confusion.

At this point, we just have to wait and see if it is a problem going forward.

This just adds salt to the wound. For once, I would like to be on the other end of these lopsided games. Come out and get fast turnovers or have an opposing player say "Dallas came out showing different coverages" and/or "we game-planned wrong for them".

It seems teams know what Dallas is going to do minus a few wrinkles but the Cowboys have no clue how to prepare properly and cover all possible scenarios.

He created a turnover when he hit Kap just as he was throwing. Unfortunately, Durant dropped the should be INT.

Other than that, I didn't specifically notice him. Gotta watch it again.

Thanks **! I'm watching tonight but I am anxious for feedback on specific players, mainly Crawford and Wilcox.

How did Crawford play? He is one of the defensive players who needed to step up for this defense to have any chance for success.

Asthma's response is what I mostly saw. And the amount of game time is still in flex. Melton didn't start, and saw limited action as well.

They went toe-to-toe in the physical department (not score) with one of the most consistently physical teams in the NFL. Actually, the Dallas offense might have been more physical than the SF defense, and that alone bodes well for the season.

You guys crack me up. Yeah, we got blown out at home, but boy did we look physical! This is the epitome of the term "moral victory". We were outclassed in all three phases of the game that actually matter. I don't mind people taking positives away from a game like this, but to attach yourself to intangibles, when we were so over matched in the tangibles, makes me laugh. Stuff like this is what you tell your kid when they get beat in a little league baseball game, not professional athletes.

Hey, that is a tough view.

Was thinking one of the holding calls that San Fran had was against him but I could be wrong on that one.

I'm sorry, but you quoted Asthma and he said exactly what you did above, and gave them a more accomplished an attaboy even.

Honestly, the biggest positive for me - and this is really simple for me to see in yesterday's game - is that the whole team looked way more physical than they have in years. They went toe-to-toe in the physical department (not score) with one of the most consistently physical teams in the NFL. Actually, the Dallas offense might have been more physical than the SF defense, and that alone bodes well for the season.

Agreed.

The physicality of the team is a positive.

there was some good and alot of really bad. the defense is still an inknown but i do think they can be competitive. not good but better than what we seen last year.
the offense can run the ball and thats a very good thing. we also moved the ball pretty well until we turned it over.
still way to many question marks but it is what it is. if romo gets himself straightend out then we should be ok. if he continues to struggle we will get a very high draft pick. individually we seen some good stuff and some bad. but it all comes down to romo for this team

It was surprising to see that Tony's

It was surprising to see Tony's so rusty. That's what has a lot of fans concerned -- the fact that he had wide open receivers and chose to throw into double and triple coverage, especially in the endzone. He's been around too long to expect those kinds of mistakes.

So, while fluke turnovers will usually get you beaten, these should have been avoided; we should have had a chance to win.

I generally agree with the positive takes on this game; I'm just choking on Romo's choke. At least he should be able to fix this; he needs more reps to get comfortable again, and his limited preseason action wasn't wise.

hes a 10 year vet nothing should surprise him if he was a ELITE QB

Yeah, I saw Mincey in the backfield more than I saw Crawford doing much of anything. Still, it's the first game. He's gotta get some reps in.

It isn't a moral victory. There is no moral victory from this game. But a team is either physical or it isn't. This team appears to be really physical... and that will carry over to the other 15 games they play this year.

This wasnt like other Romo "bad" games. It reminds me of Danny White in the latter part of his career as far as the passing game is concerned. Like Romo Danny didnt have the strongest arm in the league but he had velocity on his passes and made smart decisions. Towards the end of his career he just couldnt make the passes any more and it was very telling.

Im hoping its rust for Romo but physically his passes just dont look like they used to, and this goes back to last year before his latest surgery. As far as the mental part I hope thats not the case because he has been in the league enough to have scene almost every coverage. Next week will be telling....if its the same old, the FO will have to make some decisions on how long to ride him, back injuries are tough especially on QBs. Anyone who has had back problems can attest to that because it changes the way you walk, sit, etc....I can only imagine how hard it is if youre an athlete.

It seems like this defense was either hyped up for yesterday or holding back until the regular season. They were out there playing nasty and aggressive.

Its not a moral victory. How can you have a moral victory as a fan lol? IF the players are out there saying that? I'd agree with you. But as fans? What are we suppose to do after what we witnessed yesterday? Sulk and cry the pain away? You look for some positives into carry over into the next game.

There were some positives from a personnel perspective, sure.

I don't like that the team was as sloppy as its ever been. That's the bigger issue to me. I don't care what players they bring in, this team has been beating itself for the better part of a decade now. The only difference between them and SF is that SF managed to mitigate risk and not find ways to lose games. Dallas, still, can't get out of its own way.

This is/has been my main concern.

They simply wasn't ready to play yesterday because their head coach didn't get them ready to play.

Say what you want, but this was a turn over fest.... We played good enough to win, but you can't turn it over 4 times, give them 14 points (21 total off TO's) and win. Now what I will say is that we can win more games than we lose this year.

I don't think the score was indicative of the team.

Yeah. Not sure what Bob was getting at there, because I thought you were pretty clear. And you're right that we were essentially winning the LoS on offense most of the day, and surprisingly won it early on on defense. I think it was a good sign in isolation, too.
