I just finished watching this movie and anyone who's a Memento fan will like it very much, I believe.

It's written and directed by Memento's Christopher Nolan, and while the plot and theme of The Prestige is much different from Memento, the feel of the movie is very similar.

The movie unfolds bit by bit, and you really feel that you're never seeing the whole picture until the very end of the film.

And like Memento, it's a movie that you want to immediately watch again as soon as it's over because you finally get what's going on.

I will say that I figured out the major plot revelations before they happened, but that didn't make them any less rewarding. Also, there is one key part of the movie that just isn't realistic at all, but I don't think that detracts from the film much either.

Anyway, I know there are a lot of Memento fans here in the Off Topic zone from the previous movie threads, and with that in mind, I wanted to give The Prestige a big thumbs up!

It just came out on DVD last week. :nana:

Some of us have lives (ok, I don't have a life, but I do have kids) and can't get out to the theater and we have to wait for movies to come out on Netflix.

Anyway, I thought it was a good movie. I appreciated all the recommendations that people gave me on my "underrated movies" thread and thought I'd give some thing back to the community. :D

It was a decent movie...better than The Illusionist, but I don't get why it gets massive amounts of praise. It was a solid movie, nothing more IMO.

I thought THE PRESTIGE was very good. I actually liked MEMENTO better and BATMAN BEGINS is fantastic. Can't wait to see what Nolan does with The Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT.

I liked it, but the key part you mention was a bit hard to swallow. Still, it kept my attention for the full running length, which is more than I can say for most movies. I've only seen it once and I agree that another viewing is in order. It also has a great Thom Yorke song (Analyze) play over the final credits.

Thanks. I'm always open to new movie suggestions. Seems as though I've seen every flick out there. I'm a Netflix patron too. Heard one of their ads today in which they claim that they've shipped 1 billlllllllion movies to date! And that's just to me.:laugh2:
