The Problem is Not Coaching

Nor is the problem players who care. The current Cowboys players on offense and defense simply are not good enough, and coaching cannot fix that.

The problem on offense is injuries
  • after Fredbeard retired, we started a backup C and are now playing a rookie backup to the backup
  • We have an undrafted rookie backup at RT
  • We are on our third LT
  • Our RG is a second year player who still has had no camp or preseason game due to injury and Covid
  • Our weakest OLman at LG is now our best OLman and only remaining starter
  • We lost our starting TE and downfield/red zone threat
  • We lost our starting QB and team leader
Offense will be fine next year with everyone returning, along with some experience gained by the backups.

The problem on defense is the front office.
  • We let our best pass rushing DE walk (Quinn)
  • We let out best young DT Collins walk
  • We let our best CB/pro bowler walk because he didn’t get ints
  • We did nothing to improve the LB depth
  • We let starting safety Heath walk and now his replacements are the two guys who couldn’t take the position from him
  • All we added were 2 old fading DTs, one who sucks (Poe) and one who isn’t what he was and was lost to an injury they anticipated (McCoy)
The only addition to this defense is a rookie CB learning a new system. Lewis was okay as a part time dime player, but he has sucked all year. Last year’s whipping boy, Awuzie, is sorely missed due to injury, and last year’s 3rd best CB (Brown) is now our best CB who missed games due to injury.

While the secondary has been a disaster of blown coverages, the front seven cannot even load up and stop the run by the worst run offense in the league. No more old, over the hill 1 year contracts. This team is desperate for at least two young DTs. We may be okay at DE if Gregory pans out and if Aldon Smith can get back at it....hasn’t done much after some early recognition. DLaw will be fine.

We need serious LB competition/depth (at least 1) and a young safety.

The front office badly misjudged the value of the guys they let leave and horribly misjudged the quality of our interior DL. If Jerry thinks Poe and McCoy will be fine paired with Hill next year, then he needs to fire himself. Coaching cannot turn a pig into a race horse.

All true, but fans need something to take their frustration out. Even with the injuries, there are plenty of failures to do that with

Nolan delivered some of the worst defenses in the nfl and he's doing the same here. If we even had a decent defense, we'd probably be a 4 win team right now.

Not truce, xwalker had a thread telling us how we were all wrong...................looool

:lmao:

Sorry, no team that performs like this week in and week out has good coaching.

Parcella took Quincy Carter and Troy Hambrick to the friggin playoffs. Coaches can get bad players to play better.

Loved Parcells. Miss Parcells but even Bill didn’t inherit a defense this bad. Also Quincy was an addict trying to play NFL football. He was not as bad as allot of people make him out to be on here.

But we don’t. Our players on defense are garbage. We cannot stop the run because DLaw is the only guy on the DLine who is a legit NFL player. Look at our DTs, our right DE, and our secondary. Do you actually think a coach can make that work?

I liked Quincy. I'm just saying, there are coaches in the world that can make a bad team better. Our coaches are just going along with the flow.

This year is a whole nother level though
It is. But when you are bleeding with a gun shot wound and treat it with band aids you are eventually going to succumb to your gun shot wound. That's us this year. They treated their gun shot wound the wrong way and are paying for it.

Disagree. Coaching absolutely is a problem. This team has no motivation and you can visibly see the give up. That’s a problem. You just got wiped up by a consensus bottom 5 team.

The problem is ABSOLUTELY coaching
