The problem with drafting a QB

We are in a bad way here:
We our continued JG regime our chances of drafting a Luck type QB are going to be slim & none. Our offensive scheme dictates a pocket type QB.

We will have plethora of QB's that fit a different scheme. There are multiple Mariotta - Winston - Bridgewater - Newton types coming out. So do we go with the higher prospect type Lynch? or do you go safe, with say Coker type? Especially after 2nd round thereafter

We'll be asking a lot of a QB to fit a system vs system fitting a QB..... Which, I have SERIOUS doubts this staff can accomplish.

That is MY concern with drafting a QB that is so much needed here....

Winston and Bridgewater may be athletic, but both prefer to stay within the pocket and have even verbally said as much.

To your point, however, I tend to agree. I don't believe this staff, as it currently sits, would have much if any success adapting their scheme to a quarterback with a different skill set. Case in point, Matt Cassell is not as terrible as this system has made him look, but he's not going to run around and make the miraculous throws and plays Romo makes... Now that I think of it, maybe a mobile QB is exactly what this scheme needs since that seems to be where Romo makes his best plays.

Do you think Jerry would be interested if San Francisco dumps Kapernick.

If Paxton is on the board, run to the podium. Of not, anything on defense is likely. Possibly trade back.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him. He has all the physical tools. We would need to get a real quarterback coach on this team though. I won't fault him completely for the 9ers offensive struggles. They are severely talent deficient on offense, particularly that offensive line. He could still be a very good quarterback I think.

Maybe I'm confused, but who are you talking about? Lynch, Goff, Wentz, Cook and Hackenberg aren't anything resembling Mariota. If they succeed it will be as a pocket passer. If these are the players you're talking about, you haven't watched them enough. I don't think I've seen anyone throw around the names of the QBs that compare to a Russell Wilson or Kaepernick.

I still say RGIII is worth a look.

I haven't like him since he was drafted, however I without a doubt would bring him into training camp and let him compete just to see if he would fit this offense. Also nevertheless still draft a qb.

The Commanders tried to turn RGIII into a pocket passers-by and failed miserably. The only good year he had he was basically running Baylor's offense. Ever since, he's been a disaster. l'd pass.
