The problems are real; not in our heads.

Tony Romo concentrated too much on getting the ball to Terrell Owens; and then missed a wide open Sam Hurd for a touchdown.

Marion Barber didn't provide a spark in the running game, as was promised, and was a non-factor during the time that the first stringers were playing except for one nice play on a dump pass. Felix Jones is already showing more pizazz than Barber.

The real issue, though, is the lack of definition on the part of the offense when it comes to continuity.

What I mean is, that they seemingly are over confident in the passing game, and are trying too many lower percentage- big yardage plays; which result in 4th downs when the defense is able to stop them.

It reminds me of an Ernie Zampesie offense. He always said he had to make himself call a running play.

The Cowboys cannot expect to 'wing it' all year long on the arm of Tony Romo. It will take a consistent running game that will chew up the clock, and demoralize and wear down the defense; and that is when the offense can expect the big plays from the passing game.

There's one glaring problem that's hanging over from last season- the lack of committment to the run, giving continuity and rhythm to the offense.

The overconfidence of the offense is scary at times- but they are not doing what it takes to be dominant on the field. Anybody can throw the ball.

It takes a champion to drive the field with control and direction- wearing down and demoralizing the other team's defense with physical power, and then striking quickly with the pass when the opportunity is there.

True, preseason means very little.

What scares me is the tendencies that I see in the offense that are hanging over from the last 7 games of last year.

This is ONE game. Actually, this was three drives for Romo. The week before, he didn't look TO's way at all. He hit Witten for two catches. This week Witten didn't have any.

Maybe, just maybe he's actually taking what the defense is giving him. And, I really didn't see him force anything to TO.

Uhhh....Did you see the game last week? Barber was awesome. Denver played eight men in the box all night against the first team offense.

Again, you're basing this on four drives by our starting offense?

We have really yet to see our offense unleashed. Romo has attempted 12 passes. He has yet to see the field with Felix Jones. We cannot possibly know what to expect yet.

I agree that we need to run the ball better. That was one gripe I had last year. But then again, our offense was pretty darn good.

We really don't know what we have yet. I'll really keep an eye on this team next Friday. Then, hopefully Romo will play more than one quarter.

I didn't see this tendency at all.

Romo completed 6 of 9 passes for 33 yards, averaging less than four yards per attempt. If those numbers indicate overemphasis of big yardage plays, we have immense differences over our interpretation of big yardage.

I really don't think they wanted to be there...I din't see any enthusiasm in warm ups or the game...I wouldn't read to much nto these games. However, I do think our tackling still sucks...

I hope you are right, but it has to be demonstrated at every opportunity or it is just cheap talk.

This may be true for the ROOKIES and the young cats trying to make the team but I guarantee you that the Vets heart and soul wasn't in that game or any PRESEASON games. If we get this performance during the regular season, then bt all means they should get hammered but not during a MEANINGLESS PRESEASON game.

I don't know if there is any position in any team that can do that. I guess one can argue that Brady and Moss came close last year but Brady threw a few interception and Moss did have a few drops and miscues..... in the regular season and the playoffs.

The 1st team offense looked pretty solid last week though, in thier sole drive.

How about in the play offs and not the MEANINGLESS regular season?

Pretty sure they allow you to play the regular season if you don't win any preseason games.

Last time I checked, you have to win a few games in the regular season to get to the playoffs. I could be wrong though.

Leeblair long ago proved that he knows nothing about football... he basically ran himself out of the Ranch with his endless litany of ignorance... it got to a point over there where he could actually have made a valid point, and nobody would have discussed it with him... they'd much prefer to just abuse him...

But ask him, and he'll tell you ALL about his vast experience in coaching...

Tee ball... I swear, I'm not making that up... :D

Of course it's ridiculous to form any impressions yet about the Cowboys' offense... my biggest concern in that area is that Tony has looked a little "off" for the last week or so, and I'm starting to wonder if he's not concealing some sort of minor injury that's holding him back...

His question was so ridiculous, I didn't bother to answer. We were talking about the PRESEASON, how he took that to the playoffs is beyond me..:bang2:
