Getting curb stomped 42-10 by one of your biggest rivals for the third straight time is a kick in the groin for our Cowboys. It has both a physical and psychological toll. This is a team whose entire identity is built on being competitive with any and all NFL teams with a strong defense and a revamped offense - now it has to question itself at this point.

Going into this weekend’s big bounce-back opportunity game with the chargers will test the mental and physical toughness of a team that if we’re honest with ourselves as fans, has been too soft in their biggest moments. The psychological make up of this team is about to be severely challenged.

Questions this team must answer to get up off the canvas:
  • Was the SF game just a one week bad blip on the radar or is it a true measure of this team?
  • Is the defense as dominant as they all thought they were or are they just an occasional tiger when they have a big lead?
  • Is the “Texas Coast” offense as bad as it looked Sunday or is it still developing?
  • Is this team mentally tough enough to re-establish itself as a contender or is it back to pretender status?
  • There‘s still 12 games left. Lots of football to be played. Can this team recalibrate and get its mojo back?
There are many more questions this team faces. Sometimes a huge beat down loss like the SF game can flip a switch in a good way. Or itcan also be so psychologically damaging that it takes time to get over it.

Monday night’s game against the chargers will give us another indicator of this team’s toughness. All great teams overcome adversity. Is this team capable of overcoming adversity? Stay tuned.

I don't see how anyone is shocked, the 49ers are a great team. The Arizona game had me scratching my head a bit.

15 of the last 16 teams the 49ers beat lost their next game as well. Pittsburgh avoided that fate thanks to two defensive TDs to beat the Browns. That's it.

Big game Monday night. 4-2 at the break is a lot different than 3-3 with back to back losses.

Well said. And that’s the psychological thing this team must overcome. Under McCarthy, this team has been really good about not having back to back losses. Monday night will be a great chance for this team to decide if they are tougher than they‘ve been in the past.

The blowouts wins and losses early in the season don't make the year, but yeah, we are getting closer to the halfway point and the next games will probably determine the most what this team is made of. This could be the game where they look back and say this is where it got back on track, or this is where it fell off for the rest of the season.

As a fan, I hope it works out and believe it will. As a realist, I saw how deflated they played just for Diggs injury, and wouldn't put money on it.

This game Monday night could define the season. Either way. Win and show some grit and toughness and this team is back on track. Show some of the same problems- especially offensively - and this team has an ever bigger monkey on its back.

..if we lose this game, before going into bye. I don't feel this team recovers. Especially with all the issues present.

If the Texas coast offense turns into Texas toast offense we’re cooked and they will not recover. Defense will have to carry and it’s just not sustainable for the remainder of season.

And though not to make excuses, but injuries as well. We'll be without the main defensive play caller in LVE and the main DB in Diggs.

Don't think we'll be able to tell much about this team after Monday night, the Chargers have a pretty good offense but the defense is meh. Last I checked the Chargers give up over 400 yards and 26 pts per game. Some sites have them as the 31st ranked defense.

Probably the Cowboys will win, get embarrassed one week and most teams, even just average teams, usually bounce back just due to taking out their anger/frustrations on the next team.

Unfortunately Bob, the root cause which has been building for 27 years, is that the team is soft. From the owner down to the last player. Jerry treats them all like super stars. Until they correct that, they’re going to wilt against good teams. They have more than enough talent but have been castrated by Jerry. I’m rooting for them regardless. Maybe the play will take it upon themselves to grow a pair. One can only hope.

No doubt the Cowboys are banged up. Another piece of adversity for this team to overcome. Every NFL team has injuries. Good teams overcome them.

No balls , they have been castrated by 49ers, so nobody is going to Man up ! We have to only hope defense will keep some games close in the brutal scheudle and we will sneak some wins.
