The questions on Tetairoa McMillan

Keep in mind, this is one person’s opinion. I have my reservations about his ability to separate and how that type of receiver has produced with Dak in the past.

However, with all this being said, he is the only true alpha, true #1 receiver in this class. He will excel in the red zone and he a nightmare matchup in single coverage which he will see a ton with Lamb on the roster. Just think of Higgins from cincy with Chase, that type of impact. Now Higgins was a 2nd rd prospect not a top 12 player.

When you talk about the best fit with Dak and Lamb, strong route runners and receivers who can consistently separate. Think Amari Cooper. Golden is this type as well as Ebuka, these are the best fits

That’s the problem with this first round…..lots of guys I like but not at 12. I’m almost to a point where I would rather trade up than pick at 12. If Jeanty is gone I’m not enthused to pick at 12 unless any of the big names are there. I also do not want a corner at 12.

Tet McMillian or Shamar Stewart at 12? Those are the two names that seem to be sticking as we get closer to D day. I believe one of those two, if not both will be on the board.
Stewart would immediately help us against the run, but will need to some time to develop his pass rush. Tet would immediately help us in the redzone where the field shrinks, and his size and contested catch ability will be a major factor for opposing DB's.

I've watched a lot of McMillian football (I'm from Az) and he was consistently pressed and double teamed in every game. He has good feet and knows how to use his hands to fight through jams...the thing is he never stops on a play and keeps fighting to get open. He is comfortable with DB's on his back and uses that to his advantage as he knows where the defender is at, to box out and use his wingspan to keep the DB away from the ball. You never see Tet catch with his body.
When it comes to Dak needing a WR who separates...I'm more thinking about the future and that it not going to be Dak throwing the ball.

The thing is though we know we are trying to win now. They’ve spent the money. So at this point it’s about who helps is win now or next season. Whether we like it or not Dak is here for the next couple of years.

Is this the attitude/work ethic concern?

The kid would rather be on the beach playing volleyball in his spare time. He a Hawaiian boy who's been raised outdoors and to chill. Things came easy for him in high school and college. But that will all change for him soon...he will have tons of film to study for homework.
Got to remember a lot of what is said or written is taking out of contrast and twisted by the media.

I like the player, just not in love with the fit with our current QB. Dak had his struggles getting the ball to Dez, although this was the tail end of his career. He did was great success with Cooper, Beasley who were great separators.

There is a lot of trust needed with these type of receivers as you have to throw them the football when they are covered. I remember it took Kurt Warner some time to adjust with Fitzgerald/Bolden cause of this. Saw Eli Manning take time with Burress. However, when that chemistry is reached, these type of receivers are uncoverable. If they are going to draft T-Mac, it is going to take time to build this QB/receiver chemistry.

When you take a WR at 12 it shouldn't come with these concerns.

Then you factor in his attitude and work ethic.

I'm out on McMillan. If I did a value board this year he would not be in my top 25.

Don't let @cnuball21 read your post. He will start attacking you and the video creator as well for demeaning Tetairoa McMillan.

Of course, it about winning now, but that doesn't change anything moving forward. The draft is always about the future and relying on rookies to make major impacts is ridiculous...RB is really the only position where a rookie can come in and be an impact on day one, because of being such an instinctive position. WR takes a bit more time as they need to read and see the field as the QB would. I'm not saying a player isn't worth starting and having a roll, I'm saying in terms of a player's development. The third year is normally the time a player takes that big jump...just like we've seen with Dez and CeeDee. By the time Tet hit's year three Dak will most likely be out the door.
Two more years of Dak is short time.

I can’t say that about Lamb. Lamb made an immediate impact. People don’t remember now but we’ve always had solid slot receivers from Beasley to Cobb. That became a real need and Lamb as a rookie was a great slot receiver for us. That first rounder doesn’t need to be a finished product. But he needs to be a major contributor day 1. We can’t have the Guyton and Mazi type development with a 12th pick.

And those QB's were more accurate passers than Dak. I understand what people are saying and would totally agree if this was five years ago and Dak was in his "prime". But we are talking about a QB who is closer to being retired or maybe having another bad injury to force some decisions. Dak has always needed WR's to be wide open, but the reality is that to be a saucerful NFL QB you need to be able to fit the ball into tight spots and trust that your WR is going to get it...Dak has never been that.
If I'm drafting Tet I'm looking at what he brings to the offense in the foreseeable future more so than the right now with Dak. Dak's time is short.

This draft stinks with blue chip talent and where we sit at 12 sucks really. Better value wise to be sitting at 18 or so. Or of course in the top 5.

Classic case of over thinking, letting this guy fall to 12 will be looked at as one of the greatest blunders in a while
I don't think so on this guy. Several teams report interviews didn't go well and liads of questions about work ethic, showing up on time, etc.. most of media boards have even downgraded him. Something is up.

But saying that, I trust McClay information so if he has him high on Dallas then I'm fine with it.
