The questions on Tetairoa McMillan

This draft stinks with blue chip talent and where we sit at 12 sucks really. Better value wise to be sitting at 18 or so. Or of course in the top 5.
Yeah. I'm kind of for trading up or trading down. We either go get Carter, Hunter, Graham or Jeanty or we try to move down between 16-22.

Of course, I don't expect our front office to do either.

And those QB's were more accurate passers than Dak. I understand what people are saying and would totally agree if this was five years ago and Dak was in his "prime". But we are talking about a QB who is closer to being retired or maybe having another bad injury to force some decisions. Dak has always needed WR's to be wide open, but the reality is that to be a saucerful NFL QB you need to be able to fit the ball into tight spots and trust that your WR is going to get it...Dak has never been that.
If I'm drafting Tet I'm looking at what he brings to the offense in the foreseeable future more so than the right now with Dak. Dak's time is short.
To be fair, Eli Manning wasn't an accurate QB either, but Burress had a huge catch radius. I think we cannot just assume that Dak cannot work with this type of receiver especially since Dez was at the end of the line.

He came in 2nd for the league MVP in 2023…

If I'm Jerral Wayne, I'm looking for the best TE at 12, then WR, then RB. For my top 3 picks. That's the best way to get 3 starters and revive Dak.

I mean it depends. There’s a few guys who can come right in and make an immediate impact. Not sure if they get to us at 12. But the drafts are funny. There’s always one or two guys that fall. So who knows.

Saw a comment on another forum that summed up my thoughts nicely. What are are people watching where they come across down on this player? The guy is as dominant as they come, and an absolute nightmare in the red zone. 1400 yards as a sophomore and then 1300 as a jr. How often do we see that sort of production at the college level against elite competition. Also had a similar contested catch % to MHJ but never heard a peep about this inability to separate? STOP OVERTHINKING IT

“ I’ve started to scout him, not complete because I just don’t have as much free time. So far:

• Great catch radius, reminds me somewhat of Pickens. Even when he’s covered, he’s open type guy. The height obviously helps
• Smooth cuts - If you notice more larger receivers, they slow down for their cuts. A good example is Denzel Mims, where they take a stutter step before the cut on tape. That stutter works great in 1 on 1, because the defender doesn’t know where you are going to cut. It works bad in real games, because the defender now knows you are about to make a cut, and react faster. Yet makes those smooth cuts more often than not, allowing him separation at route stem.
• Route seem fairly crisp (it’s never going to be like a good slot receiver at his height), but he does attack the defender’s hips, and makes fairly sharp cuts.
• Red Zone target is going to be a major plus, his ability to win with his size is very good, especially because he’s such a big target.
• Surprisingly good YAC game. He’s very good at turning after the catch, and shows good agility.

• I’m always a bit scared when a WR plays with a QB that he’s very familiar with. A lot of times that means they know each other’s tendencies really well, leading to throws that other QBs just wouldn’t make. We see this with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. I’m not sure it’s a negative, but sometimes I do wonder if he’s getting a throw because the QB knows the WR well enough to place it exactly where Tet wants it. I’m not sure if that makes sense, lol.
• I’m not sold on his release yet, but I haven’t scouted enough games. With his size advantage, didn’t see enough samples of press man cover, although this could just be my limited exposure so far.
• While the long speed is there, I would like to see his 10 yard splits (or gps data tracking) because like most big receivers, he takes time to get up to speed.

To me he’s a match up nightmare, and probably my WR1 in the class”

I think Ebuka is a better fit for Dak than Tet McMillan. Ebuka is a very reliable route runner and knows exactly how to achieve separation. That's really a huge advantage if Dak happens to be your QB.

No doubt. You can't question the guy who decided Taco Charlton was a better fit than T.J. Watt.
How long you going to keep pushing that? Because to get that answer you have to remember the question. The question was - who is the better 4-3 run stuffer. Given that was the question, his answer was Taco was a better fit. Remember this was pre-draft pick and not what we know now. And there were lingering questions about Watt's knee that pushed him down that far to start with.

When you take a WR at 12 it shouldn't come with these concerns.

Then you factor in his attitude and work ethic.

I'm out on McMillan. If I did a value board this year he would not be in my top 25.

he's just a bigger faster Ceedee Lamb
