So this is their best attempt or preemptive for the next XBox WHEN IT REQUIRES ALL PLAY WITH AN INTERNET CONNECTION i.e. Always on.

That is some mighty fine logic, how about using the correct correlations:

#1 you use electricity with a console, not the internet 100% of the time, they did not make arcades etc. in the 70's to always have the game maker monitoring the games played.

#2 People have a choice of getting different types of phones even SAT phones different carriers, so that is not a good example to say give them a choice.

#3.Yeah and we will see if what happens if your Xbox requires online DM, it will nice to see how many millions express that. I hope hackers hack the games until they are playable offline too, then what control will MS have over it? Probably they think they can ban on IP or stop one account, like people cannot change IP and get a new account like they do on here all the time.

I was talking to someone the other day and they were saying that the Kinect never sleeps. I knew this because it responds when you tell it to turn on but never really though of it in the terms he was.

He said he had read an article where someone asked how far fetched it would be for MS to sell you a PPV event on XBL but charge you by the number of people the camera picks up.

MikeDrucker: Hey, @adam_orth. For someone who believes in "always on," it's hilarious that you've blocked out the entire Internet.

I guess the dude is taking a lot of heat after saying some of those things, even questioning why anyone would want to live in a rural area after someone asked him about not having stable internet out in the country.

Who is this dousche?

I ebay'd my kinect. It was trash as a game attachment, but mostly because it felt like I was being spied on. LOL

Yeah, I was never interested in it.

I think the next XBOX might have it integrated to where it can't be removed. I'll cover the camera up or something.

That's the rumor

I'll just buy a PS4, MS is so out of touch with what their customers want lately that it's not even funny. Kinnect was a POS gimmick that never worked like promised and stopped being fun after about 30 minutes.

Now they're going to base their whole console on it? Have fun with that

I'll probably still get an XBOX. Live is pretty much the differentiating factor for me and the controller is perfect.

I agree though, MS isn't doing themselves any favors with some of these rumors.

I'm guessing Sony is probably planning on the DRM stuff as well but they'll keep it tight lipped so it gets lost in the shuffle of all the information that comes out when the reveal the system and some of the gameplay.

Both companies want to kill used game sales. It's pretty stupid on their part because there are certainly games I never would have tried if it weren't for having picked the game up off ebay or from some preowned source. Most games aren't that good but the ones that are keep you hooked throughout the franchise.

And what about rentals? Not going to happen anymore? That's a horrible idea, IMO. Last time I rented a game was about 9 months ago and it was Dead Island. I liked it so I went and bought it.

I don't really see how they can expect all the would-be used game sales to convert into new sales. Not to mention a fat majority of game sales are basically just lead-ins to all the download content they put out.

If either company cuts off the used market, they'll just be encouraging people to mod their systems as soon as someone figures out the process. If used games go out the window, I'll probably consider modding the system at some point.

Under options in the main menu, you can just turn off Kinect until you are ready to play it. Mine stays off most of the time.
