Wanted to do one with no player that I have had in a previous Mock. One that would be unrecognizable as mine without my pet cats.
This won't be easy for me for the OL because I think I have drooled over every possible prospect so far. No trades in this mock. I refuse to Draft another Kicker. I'd rather be kicked in the balls, and I do not like getting kicked in the balls.
As always you are free to give it a thumbs up or down.
1. #27...Earl Thomas, FS, Texas, 5'11", 195. While I think this is a little small for a Safety, there is no doubt that the position is evolving and speed and ball skills are becoming more important all the time. Thomas gives the Cowboys an instant starter in an already young but talented defensive backfield.
2. #59...Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama, 5'10", 195. A 2nd DB this soon means only 1 thing to me. The starting 5 OL of 2009 are back and we move mid rounds to develop depth. Arenas' top contribution would be KR and PR duties. He averaged 29 yards per KR and 15.4 per PR. He also added 5 sacks on Corner blitzes. CB depth is vital.
3. #91...Rodger Saffold, OT, Indiana, 6'5", 320. This move allows the Cowboys to keep Free at future RT and Brewster moves to OG.
4. #123...Torrell Troup, NT, Central Florida, 6'3", 315. If you saw him play in the East-West Shrine game you saw him toss blockers around and collapse the pocket regularly. Provides a great motor on the DL for when Ratliff needs a break.
6. #187...Thomas Austin, OG, Clemson, 6'3", 315. He can play both Guard and Center and has a great motor with good feet.
7. #219...Taylor Price, WR, Ohio, 6'0", 198. Price is a speed demon who is raw, but has unreal gifts. I don't buy Jerry's claims of not looking for a WR. He can also contribute on KRs with his speed.
