The Ratliff Factor: Good or Bad?

I've heard some on here suggesting that Ratliff's presence gives the Bears an advantage. He has knowledge of our system and he is going to be highly motivated to "get revenge" on Jones for however he was "wronged" (even if it's all in his deranged head?)

But is it really an advantage for the Bears...or for us? I have a feeling there are few players on our defense that feel as if Ratliff wronged them. Might his presence have an opposite effect and we are the ones who come out more fired up as a result?

If anything it helps us. More likely: A non-sequitur.

Ratliff just isn't a physically significant force at this point. And I sure can't see his teammates finding any motivation at all in "Jeremiah's" narrative.

On the other hand our boys have a contingent that are far more justifiably pissed off and eager to right the wrong.

This time of year I suspect other motivations are much more meaningful.

Not really sure I see an advantage for either team really.. He never played in the 4-3 system here. He never practiced with the team. Maybe once. He never learned any of Marinelli's or Kiffin's tendencies. He might could give tips on individual players, but they could probably get that from film.

As for the Cowboys.. if the film from Chicago is anything to go by, then he's not the same player he was for the Cowboys. His tendencies and quickness won't be the same. He might have more motivation, but doesn't mean he can physically execute as he once could.

Both teams are playing for the playoffs, no additional motivation means much at this point in the year.

That's all true, but I think he knows our offensive playbook and scheme.

I don't think so. He hasn't been around to know. And do defensive players even study the offensive side of the ball on that level? They get a "playbook" ie iPad, but only for their side of the ball, I imagine.

Again, he may know Romo tendencies..or Witten tendencies...and to a lesser degree Miles or Dez. But is that enough to give them an advantage?

I just don't see it.

I'm not sure how much of advantage, if any by having Ratliff on their team but Rat was practicing with offense, day in and day out so I do believe he knows our offensive plays and schemes.

Yes he would've, prior to the Callahan, Romo, change up, but now? Notsomuch. And he's never practiced against this iteration of the 'Boys OL either. Doesn't mean he couldn't tell them something noteworthy, but I don't see the advantage there.

If I were Hatcher, I would be pissed off that Ratliff stole the cap space and made it practically impossible for the team to re-sign me.

I think Marinelli gives us a better advantage vs Ratliff doing so for Chicago. If he had more reps in I'd consider him a factor. He's out of shape and one week isn't going to put him at a level where he needs to be to have an impact.

If Garrett is play-calling, even a three year old knows our system.

Hopefully some of the players will be motivated to run him over since he bailed on the team. I would love to see Murray busting runs up the gut all day at his expense.

I don't think it matters, at the end of the day the match ups will take care of themselves. It's not like we are going to see a prime, quick, Jay Ratliff going head to head with Frederick. Just block the guy and run it down their throats like teams have against them all season.

The Rat has never played against Fredrick. Fredbeard is young, strong and smart, and Tyron is playing probowl level football. I saw either Tyron or Fredrick, I can't recall, block two guys at the same time! He literally knocked one dline man into the other. Rat is not going to make a difference in this game. Punk!

Romo should fire a rocket at Ratliff's groin ala Longest Yard. That'll help the rehab along.

Not really worried about Ratliff, the guy hasn't made a "big time play" on a football team in about 2 years. People on here would have you thinking he's the next Reggie White or something..
