There's still a possibility he replaces him this year. So many trade possibilities are wide open if they believe in Switzer making big progress this year.

Everything is a possibility. It all depends on the value involved.

But you just did, just couldn't resist it could you:lmao:
Dez the thread that keeps on going...and going:flagwave:
Love him or hate him you will be compelled to talk about him:laugh:

Usually with this FO my latin comes in handy, "lex parsimoniae" when presented with competing hypothetical answers to a problem, one should select the one that makes the fewest assumptions. Some would say Occam's razor. I hold the FO in very low regard for strategy and more comfortable in reactionary solutions. Remember how we got Dak and Zak Martin. I consider Fredrickson an outlier. I sincerely hope I am so wrong. Love reading your opinions

This is the key to what ails us at wr and qb. without zeke ..we become a team that can't do anything right consistently. You want to get Dak and Dez on track? You want Beasley, Hurn, and Switz to make an impact? Simple. Feed zeke.

Does the front office have the "belief" that Switzer is ready to take on a bigger role? Can he step into Beastley's shoes?
Why would anyone think that Switzer is ready to take over for Beasley?
6 receptions, 41 yards.

With the overload of WRs, Switzer is in jeopardy of being traded for little.

I think we actually used Switzer well last year. I would like to see him on more end arounds, or lined up in the backfield where he and zeke get out on wheel plays against LB's. More creativity there.

Probably used him for slot receiver more. Last season was to put him in punt return or kick off return like new receivers usually been used. As you said, hopefully they use him more than just for that. Hes got speed and mobility that corners cannot handle.

I will have to give this some thought, initially to me Switz is just a JAG, but I understand the fascination with his talent.
That 'talemt' is a fresh motor w/speed,his cockiness actually seemed to not be near as apparent after that Rams game death knell fumble ( we were spanking them boys) if #10 would've landed in N..E. by the sheer force of the Evil Lord BB's design,Brady would already have him fast tracking to stardom (IMO)

what is your take with the
WR these days are you satisfied? No rookie is going to upgrade the current system until the following season. IMO

That, my friends, is Ryan Switzer. You see, last year he was relegated mainly to return duties with an occasion WR set appearance tossed in there. He was very much spoon fed.

I view him as the key to everything from this point forward.

Does the front office have the "belief" that Switzer is ready to take on a bigger role? Can he step into Beastley's shoes?

Those two monumental questions will directly affect how the front office deals with TRex and Beastley.

Let's face it. No one they've signed to this point can play the shifty slot WR role. So they are pinning their hopes on Switzer. If they think it's time for him to step up, the strategy will involve offering TRex and Beastley in a trade to convince someone to offer perhaps a Safety in exchange (ala Earl Thomas) before the draft or to provide an option to move up in the draft.

If they don't feel Switzer is ready, Beastley's job is safe and TRex will find himself elsewhere. That's my logical take folks. The way in which they view Switzer's readiness is going to immediately affect how they play with TRex & Beastley (who only has one year remaining on his contract), and their overall draft strategy.
I'm a huge Switzer fan but he isn't the only one that can play slot. Not only that Switzer can lineup on the outside while Beasley can not. We have a few players that can play slot including our recent free agents. On top of that we might draft a receiver as well

The upside is he's faster than Bease, better in space with the ball, a little bigger, and cheaper being on a rookie contract. Downside is his cocky attitude, less experience, not sure about his hands/holding onto the ball.

GP ... Switzer(5'8" @185lbs) and Whitehead(5'9"@180lbs) (according to their :espn: stat lines) are essentially the same size. WH is faster in the 40 by .1-.2 seconds.

The only way to really get a top WR is to draft one and not expect big results until his 2nd season. Free agents are over-paid and the ones that are elite and don't have character/injury issues rarely become available.

In general the best mindset to have in the 2018 draft is that you're drafting for 2019. In other words just draft players with the idea in mind that they won't do much as rookies. This approach helps to avoid "reaching" for need but it still makes need (2019 need) part of the decision criteria,

Having said that, I think most early round draft picks can be expected to contribute to some extent.

The Cowboys are in perfect position to draft a WR early. They have 4 legit veteran WRs even without Dez (Hurns, Thompson, Beasley, TWill). That allows the rookie to contribute but not be depended on to start.
Beasley - 1 year remaining on contract
Thompson - 1 year contract
Hurns - 2 year contract
TWill - Not guaranteed for 2019.
Dez - if he stays, he would need to be fantastic in 2018 to have any chance of returning in 2019.
