The real problem nobody is talking about

I think the real problem with this team is they buy into all the hype. In 2009 we finally win a playoff game and felt good even though we got destroyed by Favre and the Vikings the next week. Over the offseason we were on the superbowl hype train. Media and fans alike felt Dallas was the team to beat. Start of training camp Romo said we were going to the superbowl and we started the season 1-7 which got Wade fired. Garrett comes in and starts getting older vets out and bringing in new guys. ....RKG.

Then last season we went 12-4 and really looked like the team to beat and was a play or two away from being in NFC Championship game. We added some DL help and had a promising draft including 3 first round talents. We get on that hype train again, media, Vegas and fans talking superbowl. Romo comes out again and saids we going to the superbowl. ...we are now 3-8 and looking at top 3 draft pick.

Seems we play better without the hype, players seem to buy into the hype and think just showing up will games but other teams actually show up.

I'm as positive as they come but we need a change in culture. Garrett has this team playing for him but come up short in important situations. Coaching and play calling had to be better, front office has to be better, players has to be better and we need talent.

Let's not buy until the hype and fight and earn everything even when we are favored. .....think we are underdogs every game period

I dont know if the players buy into any hype or not, but it seems the secret sauce was left out and it spoiled.

We will be underdogs next year for sure.
But I don't care if we are or we aren't.

But I do care about going forward from there. Instead of draftin for next year and FAs for success next year.
They need to plan for years ahead...draft a QB...instead of going for it now mentality, need build for long term mentality.
As much as I want another SB, I don't want one and done. Get Romo and Witten a SB, but have players in place to continue a run after that.

Injuries derailed this season, not a hype curse. Though I do think we were hyped up too much in some areas. Like the OL and "we will be fine at RB" and that the D will be great with Hardy and a few others.
None of that lived up to the hype.

But now they need to do something about it, instead of talking about it.

If we get a top 5 pick for next year and stay healthy next year. Division will be ours. We need another playmaker on offense or if Paxton Lynch is available , you take him.

On a related dnotd
This season was destroyed by injuries
Has we had romo all season we would control the division
Hype or not this team would have been good enough to get back to the playoffs
one of the most concise yet on the money posts in awhile.

Jerry said today "I really felt that was the best team we had on the field all year."

The sense of arrogance and entitlement starts at the top. Injuries or not, the record was 3-7 going into the game. The coaching staff, players, whatever, that you put together wasn't good enough. Just shut up Jerry.

Agreed, with NFL teams being so weak this year and even with all of our shortcomings, had Dez and Tony not been hurt we would've sat pretty at the top of the East. The Panthers have been on a run since the latter half of last year, tough to break the spirit of a team that's working together. Mark this as an unsurprising loss.

I think Cassell will be fine with a yr in the O. Let's rebuild the secondary, get a RB and move forward.

We fumbled the RB situation, aside from that we made some improvements i.e. adding Hardy. On the back end we lost tremendous depth at LB and that bugged me. However a healthy Romo and Dez is enough to put us at the top of the East.

I'm no clairvoyant but I figured the Panthers would destroy us. I don't think the offense with Romo ever had time to get in sync this season. He was shaky the first two games and was off against Miami. This team will always be hyped to win it all or compete simply because they are the Cowboys and the media is all over them every year. I'm not going to pretend to know what we need to do next year because the NFL is so unpredictable, look at the Panthers. I would like to draft a QB in the first round and go from there but it'll probably never happen. Been watching this team for almost 40 years and have never seen so much disarray. I do know that Jerry has to have his hands in everything so getting a big name coach is probably not going to happen. We need really good players because the coaching is going to be mediocre....

We and the Baltimore Ravens has similar problems this year. Salary cap casualties and loads of injuries to key people and that just can't be overcome in the salary cap era. Reality bites as they say. Take away your SB QB (Flacco) your top wide receiver (went to San Francisco) your best pass rusher (Suggs) and your anchor inside (Nagota) and your are going to suck.

Since the new stadium opened we are in the top 5 for lowest win total percentage ever at Home.

We have to win more games at home and not play .500 ball there

If you don't buy into Jerruh's hype he doesn't sell tickets, or jerseys, or tree ornaments, or toasters that toast a star on the bread or......

The problem we have is adjustments. We don't adjust to the times. Teams figure out what you're doing, so you must adjust. Things we got away with last year, we can't do this year. And when you break up what's working, then the chips will fall where they fall. The Dallas Mavs got rid of what got them a championship and has been irrelevant since. We had a solid up and coming team with Murray, Dez, etc. Jones gets cute, thinks he has it figured out and now this is where we are. We are a franchise without an identity and a team with no clear cut identity.

Hire Parcells' and change to a 3-4.
Hire Wade just as a place holder for Garrett.
Hire an inexperienced coach because he won us a game one time.
Sabatoge Wade so you could promote Garrett in training without looking like an a-hole.
Ditch the 3-4
Get rid of HOF players like Ware when he was playing injured.
Change offensive coordinators and force the coach to just coach.
Get all these TEs but have no clue what to do with them.
Get rid of your top-notch running back because you didn't want to pay, yet keep the journeyman Carr and his tall salary.
Hire a defensive coordinator from the nursing home, followed by replacing him.

We have no clue what we're doing up front. And everything that happens up front trickles down to the team, etc. But hey, he made 2 or 3 billion so it's all good.

I think the problem is your stud QB has played in basically 2 games if you count the injury against Philly and now Carolina. Your star WR missed several weeks, which showed us our other receivers aren't competent without Dez taking up the focus of the Defense. Your offensive line has underachieved this year. The running back who you thought would carry the load this year was cut because he is a knucklehead. Your pass rush has been almost non-existent. Lawrence has not developed the way we were hoping. Gregory was injured the first game and is still just a rookie and developing. Crawford has been playing through injuries all year and has been a shadow of what he was last year. Hardy, your only real pass rush threat, is a distraction and missed the first 4 games of the year. Sean Lee is Sean Lee, which means he is often injured and will miss several games at best. McClain was suspended 2 games. When he returned his first 4 games back were basically his training camp. The safety position is so weak Jeff Heath consistently gets playing time. His penalty against Tampa certainly hurt. Our kick and punt return game is a joke. Beasley as a punt return has to be among the absolute worst in the league. All I hope for when he receives a punt is that he won't muff it, which he did in the Giants game. Did I mention the head coach? I think those are the problems with this team...
