Please play along.

Let's pretend we could magically put Romo back together again. Fully healthy, no back issues. He's the starting quarterback in 2018.

Would Dez immediately be who he was in 2014 again? Or would his regression be evident right out of the gate?

Discuss.

Romo and Dez had there connection down. He would have better production. But I wonder if his attitude and money wasn’t a bigger issue.

...money man, ....money. Did him in. After that Lotto contract, he got sidetracked with media, commercials, endorsements ..etc. Forgot the importance of staying mentally balanced. Ego is a powerful thing without a rudder.

I think it's foolish to think Dez can't play football anymore or has "lost a step." More than likely there's more than one answer but Dak reads and see's the field a bit differently. Obviously not the pure passer Romo was although he makes up for it in other areas. More than likely Dez is a top 10ish receiver with Romo as opposed to the top 5 form we same from 12-14.

And the team would not have been any better off because the failure is not at QB or WR, it is the basic fundamental flaw with how the team has been built. It is a team problem and that starts with coaching and extends to where the emphasis is in building a team.

We really do focus too much on the trees when this is a problem with the forest.

it really doesn't matter, in a few years some big car dealership will pick Dez up and he will be set. "Hi I Dez Bryant X Dallas Cowboy player, when I was throwing up the X in Dallas little did I know that I was throwing up a X because that was what I would one day be, but oh well come on down and drive and buy a new truck. Each new truck comes with one of little "Dallas's" brother or sister"..........come on down.

Yes, put him with a top 5 QB (or a Romo in his prime) in the league and/or a different scheme and I think hes capable of top 5 wr numbers.

No. Dez is a mental midget gone malignant. Hard pass. And not he wouldn't do worth a ****.

Yeah that's why teams with top 5 QBs are beating his door down to sign him.

Romo and Dez had it down

For whatever reason Dak and Dez just didn't mesh
Something to consider...

When Dez joined the team in 2010, Tony Romo was already a 4yr veteran QB, and no one would argue that Dak — so far — is anywhere near close to Tony in passing accuracy.

Yet it took until Dez’s third season before Tony-to-Dez became a consistent hookup.

Don’t really know if releasing Dez was a good or a bad move, but a QB who currently has accuracy issues, throwing to a WR who’s never been a precise route-runner, was probably not gonna be a consistently dependable weapon without a LOT of development time.
