The real question is: will Red take the Head Coaching job in 2010?

I think JJ will follow through with his plan. I would guess we'll win 8 or 9 games and just miss the playoffs at which time he'll ask Red to take the reins. But is it something Garrett really WANTS in your opinion? I know a few of you think it's a no brainer, but I really wonder if he wants to continue working for the organization as it's presently set up. Will he ask for more control over the draft and/or possibly hire a real GM? Just thought I'd throw it out there. Some will be PO'd after two games of posing the question but that game on Sun. night left me with little hope that Wade can figure this out....................:bang2:

He turned down 2 other head coaching positions because he wanted to be here.

I cant imagine he doesnt want it, and I imagine he would get to hire his whole staff.

But none of this matters now, no one is going anywhere. Our fragile team might go winless if they had to go through a coaching change during the season.

true enough theebs. I was just posing a different question on a day when everyone keeps lamenting Wade and his shortcomings. It's always intrigued me since Jimmy left the PSYCHOLOGICAL aspect of getting a team to respond to a particular head coach and their philosophy. Jimmy was great at it, but his style always has a shorter shelf life. Red is smart as a whip, but very intellectual and soft spoken so...........it outta be interesting. As I said in the original post, his choice of def. coordinator is of particular interest to me.

you do know that Red was the reason Brad Johnson was in Dallas last year don't you? You do know that Red thought Brooks Bollinger was the perfect 3rd stringer for this team don't you? What makes him qualified to be a personell guy?

NO, NO, NO bbailey.....I said JJ will follow through with his plans to make RED the head coach....never said he was MY pick....matter of fact, I love great defense and would lean toward hiring a defensive guy. I just think that JJ loves him some Red and will follow through with his plan. If Red is as smart as everyone says he is, he would ask for a QUALIFIED GM to run the drafts. I didn't try to imply Red would want to be GM just that he would want a SAY in certain picks: a real say so, not like Wade and Campo had. That's all........

Oh I hope not...

Another coach with no fire.

I hope Jerry breaks up the circus and gets either a coach with clout or a young one with fire.

I am tired of seeing him snuggling with Romo after a stupid Romo decision.

I actually am loving what he is doing offensively right now.

The formations we are throwing at people is pretty cool and is definetely causing confusion.

I just want one thing to be clear though... You are Dallas Cowboys fans and no matter what you will hate the playcalling. You know that right?

I hope its either Garrett or Rex Ryan

But I would be satisfied with Holgrem or Gruden.

I am done with Wade ...... nice guy ..... great defensive coordinator ...... terrible head coach.

No, because he won't be offered it. At least he shouldn't be offered it.

we really have no ideal what jerry plans are;
I have heard that he is interested in shanahan to holgrem to jason garrett

This is Jerry Jones in a nut shell though;
If you tell him he cant do something, he will be bound and determined to do the opposite and prove you wrong. Its his ego!

now at the same time, think about this;
Jerry owed wade 3 million dollars this year, along with jason garrett, if he had made a coaching job change with a different coach than wade or jason this year, jerry would have had to play 6 million dollars to both coaches.

Next, i am sure your all aware that jerry jones had to take a note loan out about 300 million or so for the new stadium. Jerry is having to pay on that big huge note every month. He wants to recoup his money back first.

Remember Jerry jones did the same thing in his early years. From 1989 to 93, jerry recouped his money from buying the cowboys for about 140 million. When Jimmy Johnson wanted jerry to get the deal worked out with emmitt smith in 93, remember emmitt held out for more money. AFter losing the first 2 games jerry caved in and paid emmitt. Same thing after that year, jimmy johnson wanted jerry jones to keep free agents like stepnoski, ken norton jr, kevin gogan and others. Jerry balked, he was just getting his money back. The players walked, jimmy johnson walked and we missed out on 3 super bowls in a row.

Jerry thought the cowboys had enough win that super bowl but he didnt realize that players like ken norton jr, kevin gogan that went to 49ers would help beat us. They did. Rest is history as you know it.

Now to the last 3 years, jerry jones has paid
Romo, Roy Williams Wr, Newman, Flozell, Ken Hamlin, Leonard Davis, big huge contracts. Has jerry jones really gotten his money worths back from those players? NO!

Now did you think Jerry Jones was going to give away 6 million dollars away for a new coach this year. Right, he did not, Jerry is recouping his money in the stadium.

Thats another reason why jerry jones has not paid ware his big contract yet. Think about this, if ware doesnt hardly get any sacks this year, then his demands cant be as high. So, to a degree Jerry is waiting to see how ware and the defense does, while recouping some money back for the stadium.

i said way back there about Jerry Jones with jerry not going to spend money on free agents, etc, and i got blasted on the board, now some zoners are swinging to my thinking about the money. I know what I see folks and hear zoners. Trust Me!

I think it depends a lot on how Garrett performs as the offensive coordinator this season.

There's a reason that he was not hired as a Head Coach this offseason and I don't think JJ will make him our HC just for the sake of it, especially with some of the experienced coaches out of work.

I think any changes with the coach’s hinge on how this team does this season. We have played 2 weeks sorry season is not over with as of yet not with 14 games remaining. If this staff can get to the post season and win in post season I think they return if not then chances are there will be change.

That was excellent perspective. At the end of the day it's a business first.

I think it will depend on what the offense does during the coarse of the season.If the offense puts up good numbers during the whole season he will be considered for the head coaching job.Something else to consider is that Garrett is held in high regard by Jerry and also by some other former players/league personnel that have some influence on his decision making.Yes he sold us Brad Johnson,but then again he lobbied to draft Felix also.Another thing to consider is that Garrett and Jerry have known each other now for a long time,they may work together better than Jerry and Wade or any other candidate that may become available.It would be of interest to know where Stephen Jones is on the subject,does he believe you stay in house or do you get take out for the next coach of this team.I for one believe that if Stephen Jones,Troy and say Michael Irvin lobby for Garrett he will be your next coach.Is that a good thing or bad thing,only time will tell.

I still believe Red is Jerry's guy - as I said at the time we were looking at Red/Norv/Wade - if he is the guy for the future then just pull the trigger and surround him with good talent at OC and DC.

I think that is still the plan and expect that unless we just tank this year on O that it will come to fruition in 2010. The only issue is finding a good 3-4 DC as I don't think we are going to convert back to 4-3.

Rob might be available.
