I understand why dog fighting is cruel. At first, it didn't make sense why so many states made it a felony and not a misdemeanor. However, once I heard the statistic that 70% of people involved in dog fighting transfer the violence they've seen to other humans, it makes sense.
If dog fighting were widely accepted, kids from a very young age would be desensitized to real violence, not just cartoon and video game violence.
Adults themselves would be more violent with each other. It's a civilization advancement to stamp out dogfighting, and that's why so many states have attached felony charges to it.
