Its become obvious to anyone with an IQ above 85 that when Garrett wins, he does so on the back of superior talent.
We seen what this team can do when all the peices are there. A fully loaded Cowboys has proven in 2014 and 2016 that its a top 5 team in the NFL. Problem is when this team faces serious roster adversity they become a bottom 10. We have seen wild pendulum swings both in 2015 and over the second half of 2016.
To me that pendulum swing is the real problem with what is going in under Garrett. We have been able to get top results. When it swings back in the opposite direction, we look to the other side and say " we would be over there again if.....". We dont have the sustained success or failure that our FO will truly evaluate.
I truly belive we will 11+ games next season. Probably 12+. We have that level talent. That much is undeniable. However when true adversity pops up as it does with all teams at some point, we will shrivel. But instead of action, we will look at what we had been able to do.
For those that think Garrett is going anywhere, I see that as very slim for the foreseeable future. To do so, I belive he will have to not only finish below .500 this season, but in 2018 as well. The talent level on this team just doesnt make that likely, unless we have similar adversity next year as we did this year.
Over the next 5 years, until the talent on this team is spent, I see wild pendulum swings and very little action from the FO.
