Trade Dak to get his salary off the books not worried about the compensation in return. Run the next season with Rush as your QB. I don’t view Rush as a franchise QB but he isn’t a significant drop off so I don’t think the results will vary much between the two. Draft a QB this year to groom and use the extra money to fill the holes.

If Jerry brings back MM and Dak next year we will be looking at the same season all over again.

That’s the blueprint but the cowboys jones don’t agree with you.

Actually, it is to get a dominant runner in the draft.

Nobody is trading for a middle of the road QB with 230M left on his contract. Plus, he has a no trade clause.

How many other players do you need to get rid of because of the cap hit, IF he takes the trade? How many years of "dead money" ?

Hypothetically the topic is correct in theory. In reality, it just won't happen. Unless let's say a team has a catastrophic injury at QB,and the team is winning, but we are losing, then a team might desperately need a vet QB that can carry them , drive the bus into the post season. Like I said, it would take a GM being very desperate, coupled with us being a terrible team this year near the midway point. Near the trade deadline. No GM in their right mind would take on his salary unless they feel they are really close to going into the playoffs, making a run. Has to be a unique situation. Otherwise, forget about it, not happening.

Dak is the cowboys' qb for the foreseeable future, coaching matters and players around him matter more. Best approach in my opinion would be to get the ball out of his hands much more often, passing game like Troy maybe 20 or 25 per game rather than 40. Draft Jeanty and Cam Skattebo transform offense into ball control, pass when you want not because you have no other options. Keep ball away from dangerous nfc east rivals potent offenses.
