You can throw a red flag if you think a penalty should have been thrown on the previous play? What is to stop coaches from throwing flags for critical holding calls that were missed?

The way I understand it is that a holding call is more of a judgement call, while 12 men on the field is pretty much black and white.

Seems like you should be able to challenege offsides though.

I don't believe that holding calls are reviewable. That's what I don't like about the process. If a call is wrong, it should be reviewable. I could care less how long it stretches out the game. The refs should get all the calls right OR they need help getting all the calls right. It's only fair.

I agree....how many times was D-Ware called for being off-sides this year when he really wasn't?

I totally agree. I cannot believe challenging a non-called penalty is allowed in the NFL. Seems to me that if it is legal, then pass-interferrence should be reviewable.
How about Brady throwing the ball out of bounds from his own endzone at the end of the 3rd quarter? How in the world wasn't that Intentional grounding? There was not a receiver within 20 yards and Tom was clearly about to be sacked. I guess you have to be Tony Romo to be called for that:mad:

I know. Fox did not even show a replay of it. I totaly believe with the way Troy and Joe Buck looked after the game, they were upset with the Giants winning.

they don't call intentional grounding if the QB is getting hit as he's throwing (or if the defender tips the ball)

I guess if I had the rare opportunity to call such a historical game (that is if the Pats won) then I would be a little let down if they lost.

Yes, its hard to understand why Troy Aikman, a former Dallas Cowboys QB would be upset with the Giants winning.....

Hmmmm.... probably because Troy is really a Patriots fan and is biased against the Cowboys....

Probably has nothing to do with him being a former Dallas player and the Giants being, well, the Giants.

I guess as far as the rule reads, it is black and white.

But I think that when a guy is running as fast as he can, and is 1 yd shy of exiting the field, .. that it is outside the spirit of the rule to penalize that.

It is not like 12 men particiapted in the play, which is why the rule was created in the first place.

I have felt that way for a long time.

That penalty last night has nothing to do with football.

But that's just my opinion.

Right:rolleyes: I guess they did not call it on Romo in the playoff game against the Giants. Brady did not get hit before he threw that pass and the pass was not tipped. He threw it to prevent getting sacked. Clearly should have been a penalty.

Opinions are like butts, every one has one. They both were upset about he loss, no matter what the reason. Kinda defeats that no-bias perspective, doesn't it.
Troy took off his Cowboys colored glasses a long time ago. :starspin

you can't review judgenment calls. there is holding on almost every play. the 12 men on the field is a very black and white call so thats why is allowed to be reviewed.off sides would be hard to review because the odds are you woud'nt have a shot straight down the l.o.s.

You sure about that? Maybe if it's tipped at the line, was it tipped at the line? And they absolutely do call IG when the QB is getting hit, either that or a sack.

The NFL needs to institute the DeMarcus Ware rule. Since Ware is too fast for refs to correctly determine if he was offsides, he shall be given the benefit of the doubt in all such situations and no penalty will be called.

Terry Bradshaw wanted the Patriots to win just to shut the 1972 Dolphins up.

I admit, I hate the champagne cork stuff etc, but it looks good on the hoodie not to be the guy to be undefeated.

Yoko Bundschen will not be allowed near a Patriot game next year.
